Don't give up on me, Bill,,, I'm going to have to read this again, to see IF I can figure out where you're going. To make it short, are you saying that Christians don't have to observe the 7th day of the week as the Sabbath? It kind of appeared like you were saying EVERY day should be a Sabbath, and if that's the case, how can we make a living? :-) I'll have to admit, to me, your post is original... I don't think I've ever seen ANYONE quite describe things this way. :-D

These are the days of Grace, that is called today. This is the new covenant day.
Notice encourage each other daily.
Now to this Greek word "sabbatismos" means rest people make it out to be a holy word from God. It just means rest. In the old testament he made the 7th day of the week holy. In all instances it means rest. If you lived back then and you had been plowing behind an oxen all day you might say to your son, "my son it is growing hot lets go to the big oak and get a drink and Sabbath for awhile." It means rest.
The whole context of Hebrews 3 and 4 is the future rest of God and another day he called today.
A time of salvation. That’s why he said if Joshua had been able to give them rest (sabbath) not the seventh day but rest then he would not have made another day and called it today.
Then reading on he in Chapter 4 says again encourage one another daily as long as it is called today. Only Christ is able to give us a true Sabbath day rest we must rest in Christ daily continually until we pass on the great beyond.
Today if you hear his voice. (We are the called out ones) we have heard his voice.
But please understand I am not trying to cause dissension among the brethren. That is one of the seven things God hates. I am really not trying to tell anyone what to do or days to keep it is just my opinion.
There are two rests mentioned in Heb chapter 3 and 4 a future rest and a today rest.
When his disciples were rubbing grain together on the Sabbath Christ said he was the Lord of the Sabbath. There is absolutely nothing wrong in going to church on the 7th day of the week or any other day. The early churches went everyday. They met daily and broke bread. I wish it were possible for us to do that.
Just my opinion. I am truly not trying to change you or your form of worshiping God nor anyone else’s. I just have stated my scriptural opinion.
Those who Christ has set free are free indeed. Free means not bound by anything. Paul and John said only be bound by love.
Hebrews chpt 3
12See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today,
("There is something that can not be denied something is called today" this is inserted by me)
so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness. 14We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first. 15As has just been said:
"Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion."[b]
Do you believe that Christ is our atonement just one time a year every year? Or is our atonement a constant thing?
Then you should ask yourself if he is my atonement what else has he become for me?
Well he became our Passover did he not do a complete job in his death burial and resurrection.
The churches of God seventh day say he did not fulfill all in his death but just part.
I ain't buying that for a minute. He tabernacles with us constantly. Christ is our completeness.
In him I lack nothing. In Christ there is the fullness of God.
I kinda get long Winded don’t I?
I just feel for people that study only in part.
They say weather they believe it or not “This is what I believe and that’s it.
It is much like the people that say the King James is the only true Bible...
There is a whole lot more I could add to this. I will let it go at this.
Peace Brother

- PS... I'm with you, Bill,,, Strongs is a good tool, but not the epitome all references. It's just like the different translations of the Bible... some make different areas more clear to our understanding, at this point in time, than others do on different passages. I don't think ANY "Bible help" should be considered a "Thus Sayeth the Lord" to anyone, since they're all done by men, many of whom have an axe to grind, or bias. Just my thoughts.

- Hi Mary, I hear preachers in all churches throw the strong Con. around
- like that settles it.
- After many years of believing them I started really being able (due to
- the web and all the free
- study helps and many other scholarly helps therein) to do in-depth-
- study. I have come to the conclusion the Strongs is
- a great tool but you really have to be careful using it as the final
- in Greek study.
- I hope several of you will study all the words before we discuss this.
- I am trying to make a point of how we should study. And that we should
- really study. We also should without
- prejudice have open discussions but alas that except in places on the
- web like this where I have to shut up on
- occasions is quite impossible.
- Mary in all your years of attending church services have you ever had
- a pastor that was really doing in depth
- study and would really teach you? I never have. I love the pastor of
- the church I attend but the message is always
- Sabbath,Holy days,Law and commandments,over and over and over. Ok! I
- catch on now,please.
- That statement isn't totally true he seems really great in
- Revelations. I could listen to him muddle through that from
- now on. Please enough already with the Sabbath and the commandments
- give it a rest for a little while anyway.
- These Greek words I posted are the tip of the iceberg. I would love to
- find some truth seekers here in the village.
- Most people aren't excited about the word of God you talk to them and
- you can see their eye glaze over. But talk
- about the stars dancing on tv or fishing, hunting, gardening anything
- else and they are so excited.
- I probably did not answer your question.Without all the words and
- their meanings I can't make a point.
- I really want to see what conclusions others come up with if any and
- how deep will they take the few words given.
- When you look up the words with the link I posted, at the bottom of
- that page it gives you all the places in the Bible
- they are used. I had a bunch of fun with this myself. I also thanked
- God what a blessing what a great God he is.
