Well, for starters, we arn't the Super Secret Philosophy Secret.  We're a club!  And we know it!

Anyway, in making the google groups, I realised we need two things - a paragraph-long description of ourselves, and an image.  Please now, magical interweb mailing list, create these for me!

I can probably draw a logo for us but now I need to think of how to draw and then send it to you. Paul can probably do something too.

Now for the logo, I'm thinking of one of those illogical artwork puzzles consisting of the different letters in SSPC put together in an illogical way. What do you think? Does anyone have picture that I can possibly reference? The one in the link is only a cube and therefore not big enough.

Cheers,
Thuy

Hey Michael!

Well, it depends on where it is. If it's on paper, it needs to be scanned. If on the computer, then you can attach it as a link.

I sorta like it.  It honestly didn't look that great at first, but the more I look at it the better it gets.  I do like Thuy's escher idea though.  Or maybe a fractal?  This perhaps? I like fractals.  Maybe a picture of Plato or someone? we should vote.

Well, it can be scanned and I do have a scanner but the drawing looks a bit messy with all the eraser marks. Also, I can't use any applications to replicate it. I sigh with sadness.

Okay, I think I've created a paragraph description of the group. Here
it is:

We are the SSPC. The Super Secret Philosophy Club. We are a
decentralized group of people who discuss philosophy and similar
topics. We look to find meaning in random topics like the thoery of a
multiverse and the idea of an ideal government. Our
"discussions" (more like civil arguments) are open and anyone can
join. Just think openly and type what you think. Any argument goes,
and if it doesn't we'll just completely crush it. So join or read our
disscussions today.

Second: Yes, we do. I'm going to propose the topic:
"Do you think it's philosophically possible to know anything, for certain?"

As far as I rule, being the tyrant-by-default because I was the only one who could be assed to put the mailing list together, anyone can start any topic whenever.  I do like that one, it would definately be the most philosophical thus far, lots of discussion of Descartes, Locke, Leibniz, etc.  I'll go start it I guess.

Right then

Sunday: the test run for what is hoped to become an SSPC tradition, and major means of communication - classic tea parties!  This one's in the washington DC area, at Paul's house

Food:  whatever we can get, including tea, crumpets, and cake.  note:  please, people, bring consumables.  Contribute, do your part for the Party!
Attire:  Fancy.  not wedding or funeral fancy, but button-down shirt, jacket, etc.  NOT JEANS OR T-SHIRT, you will be turned aside at the door.  Non-fancy shoes are alright, this'll be outside, but fancy is appreciated.
Guests:  Me, Paul, Thuy, Michael, and possibly Jamie (he doesn't know if he can come yet, probably not)
Topics: Will be determined.
Other: British accents mandated.

I'll try to find a cooler hat. But if I can't...too bad!
P.S. I'm going to bed so no more posts by me tonight.
P.P.S. By 'going to bed' I mean going to do homework.

If I could be there in spirit... Maybe Google chat? I would even be willing to use an English accent.

Pip pip cheerios and all that, chap, I think it would be a bloody good time. And mayst I bring crumpets? I do have a likeness to them.

Hey what happened to changing the theme? Not that there is anything
wrong with the "Standard" look, though the theme "A Kind of Blue"
would look better... Or maybe customized colors?

Well, as of now, we're not really using the group page for much, so idk if it's worth a custom theme, but I just set it to the "typography" theme, which looks like what they have.

Also, about where we're located, we have one person (David Horton, who never says anything on the mailing list for some reason) in Utah, although he claims to be able to get more people to join.  He seems very lazy about it though.

Alright, I've made the first two torrent files!  They're on the site.  A 24-lecture series on argumentation.  Please, everyone, dl them and seed! seed as much as possible, the more people the faster the download.

Off-topic from what is already said but

I can't make it a noon exactly for the meeting. My little brother has a birthday party and my parents really want me to help out. It ends at 2:30 so I can probably come at 3:00. Is it alright if I come that late? Will it still be going on?

Cheers

ECCH!!  annoyance. Sure, that's fine with me, but idk about michael - Michael, can you come later?  Paul, is it k with you?  Problem is, I told Jamie 12:00 and now  I have no way to contact him.  Don't even know if he's coming or not though.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Still, I'm fuzzy on the food issue. Are only you and Paul going to supply food? What kind of food? Will there be tea and sugar?

Cheers

Ok, so david and i have agreed that 3:00 is a slightly better time anyway. i will get this message to all others who are attending. if there is rain, we will just move inside.

as for food, we will provide food, but feel free to bring something of your own if you are so inclined. Michael has mentioned that he is bringing lemon bars, for example.
