100525 Genesis 25 study
100809 Genesis 25
Since May 1, 2010 this is my first study I have done because the oil
spill in the gulf, and the fact God told me to put the solution to the
problem on the internet and it was ignored. I have been in a sort of
mourning and have not been studying because I was not posting to the
internet while we watched the gulf turn to blood is this Revelation
8:8? Time will tell.
Re 8:8 And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain
burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea
became blood;
Genesis 25
Ge 25:1 Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.
From Torah with Rashi:
1.) And Abraham took another wife and her name was Keturah.
Keturah: (Gen. Rabbah 61:4) This is Hagar. She was called Keturah
because her deeds were as beautiful as incense (קְטֹרֶת), and because
she tied (קָטְרָה, the Aramaic for“tied”) her opening, for she was not
intimate with any man from the day she separated from Abraham
(This is interesting and I will do further research into this
comment,)
1ch 1:32 Now the sons of Keturah, Abraham's concubine: she bare
Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah. And
the sons of Jokshan; Sheba, and Dedan.
1ch 1:33 And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Henoch, and
Abida, and Eldaah. All these are the sons of Keturah.
And the sons of Keturah, Abraham’s concubine: Anything disgraceful
that he could tell about them he tells to enhance Isaac’s honor, i.e.,
they were all the children of a concubine, but he was the mainstay and
the master of the household.
Wikipedia states:
According to the Hebrew Bible, Keturah or Ketura (Hebrew: קְטוּרָה,
Modern Ktura Tiberian Qəṭûrā ; "Incense") was the woman whom Abraham,
the patriarch of the Israelites, married after the death of his wife,
Sarah. Keturah bore Abraham six sons, Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian,
Ishbak, and Shuah.[1]
Keturah is referred to as "Abraham's concubine" in the Bible,[2]
probably to indicate that she was not considered to be of the same
dignity as Sarah, the mother of the "chosen son", Isaac.[citation
needed] It is probably also for this reason that the sons of Abraham's
concubines were separated from Isaac.[citation needed] There is no
indication when that happened, other than during his lifetime. He died
at the age of 175.[3] Keturah's six sons represent Arabian tribes
south and east of Canaan.
Some, but not all, Jewish philosophers identify Keturah with Hagar,
stating that Abraham sought her out after Sarah's death.[4][5][6] This
interpretation is set forth in the Midrash[7] and is supported by
Rashi, Gur Aryeh, Keli Yakar, and Obadiah of Bertinoro. The contrary
view (that Keturah was someone other than Hagar) is advocated by
Rashbam, Abraham ibn Ezra, Radak, and Ramban.
Adherents of the Bahá'í faith believe their founder, Bahá'u'lláh, to
have been a descendant of both Keturah and Sarah.[8]
Ge 25:2 And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian,
and Ishbak, and Shuah.
Ge 25:3 And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were
Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.
Ge 25:4 And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and
Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.
Ge 25:5 And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.
Torah 5. And Abraham gave all that he possessed to Isaac
And Abraham gave, etc.: (Gen. Rabbah 61:6) R. Nechemiah said: He gave
him a permanent blessing, for the Holy One, blessed be He, had said to
Abraham (above 12:2)“ and you shall be a blessing,” i.e., the
blessings are delivered into your hand to bless whomever you wish. And
Abraham gave them over to Isaac. — [Mid. Ps. 1:5]
Ge 25:6 But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had,
Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he
yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.
6. And to the sons of Abraham's concubines, Abraham gave gifts, and he
sent them away from his son Isaac while he [Abraham] was still alive,
eastward to the land of the East
concubines: (Gen. Rabbah 61:4) This [the word [פִּילַגְשִׁם] is
spelled defectively [missing the letter “yud”], because there was only
one concubine. That was Hagar, who was identical with Keturah.
[The“yud,” denoting the plural, is absent, hence Rashi understands
that the word פִּילַגְשִׁם denotes the singular. In our Torah scrolls,
the plene spelling appears.] Wives are those who have a marriage
contract, whereas concubines have no marriage contract, as is
explained in Sanhedrin (21a) regarding David’s wives and
concubines.
Abraham gave gifts: Our Sages explained that he gave them “the name of
impurity” (Sanh. 91a). Another explanation: All that was given to him
because of Sarah and the other gifts that were given to him, all these
he gave to them, for he did not wish to benefit from them.
Ge 25:7 And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he
lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen * * * years.
Ge 25:8 Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an
old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.
Ge 25:9 And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of
Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which
is before Mamre;
Torah 9. And Isaac and Ishmael his sons buried him in the Cave of
Machpelah in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which
faces Mamre
Isaac and Ishmael: (Gen. Rabbah 30:4, 38:12) From here [we may deduce]
that Ishmael repented and let Isaac go before him, and that is the
meaning of “a good old age” which is stated regarding Abraham (above
15:15). - [B.B. 16b]
Ge 25:10 The field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth: there
was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.
Ge 25:11 And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God
blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahairoi.
Torah 11. Now it came to pass after Abraham's death, that God blessed
his son Isaac, and Isaac dwelt near Be'er Lachai Ro'i
Now it came to pass after Abraham’s death, that God blessed, etc.: He
consoled him with the consolations of the mourners (Sotah 14b).
Another explanation: Even though the Holy One, blessed be He,
delivered the blessings to Abraham, he was afraid to bless Isaac
because he foresaw Esau emanating from him. So he said, “May the
Master of blessings come and bless whomever He pleases.” And the Holy
One, blessed be He, came and blessed him. - [Tan. Lech Lecha 4]
Ge 25:12 Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom
Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bare unto Abraham:
Ge 25:13 And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their
names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael,
Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,
Ge 25:14 And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,
Ge 25:15 Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:
Ge 25:16 These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by
their towns, and by their castles; twelve * * princes according to
their nations.
Torah 16. These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names in
their open cities and in their walled cities, twelve princes to their
nations
in their open cities: [These are] unwalled cities, and the Targum
renders: בְּפַצְחֵיהוֹן, for they are מְפֻצָחִים meaning open, as in
(Ps. 98:4):“Open [your mouths] (פִּצְחוּ) and sing praises.”
(This is also my Holy Commission to open my mouth and sing praises, in
fact I promised God in person in a vision in 2003 to do this and give
the money to the poor who are children of God being trampled under the
feet of the beast, being ridden by the harlot arrayed in her
masquerade of abomination and greed while dressed in the color of her
supposed husband, Jesus.
Revelation 17
Re 17:1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven
vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew
unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many
waters:
Re 17:2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication,
and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of
her fornication.
(This is happening now and the USA is one of the main players.)
Re 17:3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I
saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of
blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
Re 17:4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and
decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup
in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
Re 17:5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE
GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
Re 17:6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints,
(These resurrected and gathered are defined as a most holy thing it
would seem that Massa might be a most holy thing and Mecca is the city
where Muslim was started?
I wish I could find someone to talk to.)
and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I
wondered with great admiration.
(Poor Massa might hear her say things like;
Things like “I don’t care how many pork chops I eat, I still won’t
help God by passing the platter to one of His starving children in
Haiti or Mexico.
I wont stop the oil in the gulf or obey church law in 1 Timothy or
Corinthians either..
Think about eternal life, and how the children mentioned in this
chapter must view our modern world, one where the bright lights of the
cities at night obscure the stars themselves and the smog from the
burning oil obscure the sun which is a prophecy written about today. I
don’t know if these things are the fulfillment just that they seem to
fit as far as the stars, the sun and moon are another matter but I
know they stand for moon=Jew period from Moses perhaps even Abraham
Sun = Jesus period but I know at least a third of that has been struck
already)
Isa 13:10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall
not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth,
and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
(As far as my standpoint this is true I have written hundreds of
letters to the sun (Christian) and moon (Jews) and have receive no
reply. They do not put forth their light.
Take Ishmael’s son Massa, in Jesus blood there is no death so he
watched his family as it was born and died all these years. He would
be watching the living people today and that is why we are called
potentate, this is documented to be happening at a certain date in
the countdown to the justice God has promised. Poor Massa might be
furious or elated by his family’s actions today viewed from his
prospective of the undead who watch the living. Take this warning and
understand I carry the daughters of music and when we were homeless
all these prophecies were fulfilled even the music being brought low.)
Ecclesiastes 12
Ec 12:1 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the
evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I
have no pleasure in them;
Ec 12:2 While the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not
darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain:
Ec 12:3 In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and
the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because
they are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened,
Ec 12:4 And the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of
the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird,
and all the daughters of musick shall be brought low;
Ec 12:5 Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and
fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the
grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man
goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets:
(This is documented behavior as regards the undead and you can read
about it word for word as regards Saul raising the “dead and watching”
Samuel days before Saul was killed and David became King. All the dead
people are watching the living potentate as it causes global
extinction and sneers at God about her need only for her beast and her
John’s money and false security.)
1sa 28:3 Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and
buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those
that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land.
1sa 28:6 And when Saul enquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him
not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.
1sa 28:7 Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a
familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his
servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar
spirit at Endor.
1sa 28:8 And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he
went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and
he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring
me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.
1sa 28:9 And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul
hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and
the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for
my life, to cause me to die ?
1sa 28:10 And Saul sware to her by the LORD, saying, As the LORD
liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.
1sa 28:11 Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he
said, Bring me up Samuel.
1sa 28:12 And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice:
and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for
thou art Saul.
1sa 28:13 And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest
thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the
earth.
1sa 28:14 And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An
old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived
that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and
bowed himself.
1sa 28:15 And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to
bring me up ? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the
Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and
answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I
have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.
1sa 28:16 Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing
the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy?
1sa 28:17 And the LORD hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the
LORD hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy
neighbour, even to David:
1sa 28:18 Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the LORD, nor
executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the LORD done
this thing unto thee this day.
1sa 28:19 Moreover the LORD will also deliver Israel with thee into
the hand of the Philistines: and to morrow shalt thou and thy sons be
with me: the LORD also shall deliver the host of Israel into the hand
of the Philistines.
(These people aren’t like the air people. You cant’s see or hear, or
feel air, only its affect and it is the only thing like it in the
universe with these characteristic too, it is perhaps the only
singularity in existence too!, and the sun and moon aren’t darkened
either.)
Ge 25:17 And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred
and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was
gathered unto his people.
Torah 17. And these are the years of the life of Ishmael: one hundred
years and thirty years and seven years; and he expired and died and
was gathered to his people
(Those who died before him and await his transformation from flesh to
whatever you want to call “tainted” spirit.)
And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, etc.: Said Rabbi
Chiyya bar Abba: Why were Ishmael’s years counted? In order to trace
through them the years of Jacob. From the years of Ishmael we learn
that Jacob studied in the academy of Eber for fourteen years after he
left his father before arriving to Laban, for when Jacob left his
father, Ishmael died, as it is said (below 28:9): “And Esau went to
Ishmael, etc.” , as is delineated at the end of [the chapter
entitled]“The Megillah is read” (Meg. 16b, 17a).
and he expired: Heb. וַיִגְוַע. [The term] גְוִיעָה is mentioned only
regarding the righteous. — [B.B. 16b]
(Actually an Angel delivered a promise to these children and that is
another reason they are counted but I have already mentioned the taint
of self superiority and envy that leads to the slaughter of your
brothers family (The other Children of God) for a few copper pieces
and mentioned fury and justice.
Ge 25:18 And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt,
as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his
brethren.
Ge 25:19 And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son:
Abraham begat Isaac:
Torah 25:19 Rashi commentary
And these are the generations of Isaac the son of Abraham: [תּוֹלְדוֹת
refers to] Jacob and Esau mentioned in this section.
Abraham begot Isaac: (Only after the Holy One, blessed be He, named
him Abraham, did he beget Isaac. Another explanation:) Since Scripture
wrote: “Isaac the son of Abraham,” it had to say: “Abraham begot
Isaac,” because the scorners of the generation were saying that Sarah
had conceived from Abimelech, for she had lived with Abraham for many
years and had not conceived from him. What did the Holy One, blessed
be He, do? He shaped the features of Isaac’s face to resemble
Abraham’s, and everyone attested that Abraham had begotten Isaac. This
is the meaning of what is written here: “Isaac, the son of Abraham,”
because here is proof that “Abraham begot Isaac.” - [From Midrash
Tanchuma, Toledoth 1]
Ge 25:20 And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife,
the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram, the sister to Laban
the Syrian.
Torah
20. And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebecca the daughter of
Bethuel the Aramean of Padan Aram, the sister of Laban the Aramean, to
himself for a wife
:
forty years old: For when Abraham came from Mount Moriah, he was
informed that Rebecca had been born. Isaac was then thirty-seven years
old, for at that time Sarah died, and from the time that Isaac was
born until the “Binding” [of Isaac], when Sarah died, were thirty-
seven years, for she was ninety years old when Isaac was born, and one
hundred and twenty-seven when she died, as it is stated (above 23:1):
“The life of Sarah was [a hundred and twenty seven years.”] This makes
Isaac thirty-seven years old, and at that time, Rebecca was born. He
waited for her until she would be fit for marital relations-three
years-and then married her. — [From Gen. Rabbah 57:1
the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean of Padan-Aram, the sister of
Laban: Was it not already written that she was the daughter of Bethuel
and the sister of Laban and from Padan-Aram? But this is to tell her
praise, that she was the daughter of a wicked man and the sister of a
wicked man and her place was [inhabited by] wicked people, but she did
not learn from their deeds. [From Gen. Rabbah 63:4]
of Padan-Aram: Because there were two Arams, Aram-naharaim and Aram-
zobah, it is called Padan [meaning“pair”], an expression of a pair of
oxen, which in Aramaic is פַּדַּן תּוֹרִין. Others interpret “Padan-
aram” as “the field of Aram,” because in Arabic, a field is
called“fadan.”
Ge 25:21 And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was
barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife
conceived.
Ge 25:22 And the children struggled together within her; and she said,
If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD.
Torah
22. And the children struggled within her, and she said, "If [it be]
so, why am I [like] this?" And she went to inquire of the Lord
struggled: Perforce, this verse calls for a Midrashic interpretation,
for it does not explain what this struggling was all about, and
[Scripture] wrote,“If it be so, why am I [like] this?” Our Rabbis
(Gen. Rabbah 63:6) interpreted it [the word וַיִתְרוֹצִצוּ] as an
expression of running (רוֹצָה) . When she passed by the entrances of
[the] Torah [academies] of Shem and Eber, Jacob would run and struggle
to come out; when she passed the entrance of [a temple of] idolatry,
Esau would run and struggle to come out. Another explanation: They
were struggling with each other and quarreling about the inheritance
of the two worlds (Mid. Avkir).
If [it be] so: that the pain of pregnancy is so great.
why am I [like] this?: [Why did I] desire and pray to conceive?- [From
Gen. Rabbah 63:6]
And she went to inquire: to the academy of Shem. — [Aggadath
Bereishith, ch. 73, Targum Jonathan and Yerushalmi] ותלך לדרוש: לבית
מדרשו של שם:
to inquire of the Lord: that He should tell her what would happen to
her in the end.
Ge 25:23 And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and
two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one
people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall
serve the younger.
Torah
23. And the Lord said to her, "Two nations are in your womb, and two
kingdoms will separate from your innards, and one kingdom will become
mightier than the other kingdom, and the elder will serve the
younger.
And the Lord said to her: through a messenger. Shem was told through
Divine inspiration, and he told it to her. — [From Gen. Rabbah
63:7]
Two nations are in your womb: [The word גוֹיִם] is written גֵייִם
[which is pronounced] like גֵאִים (exalted persons). These were
Antoninus and Rabbi [Judah the Prince], from whose tables neither
radishes nor lettuce were lacking either in the summer or in the
winter. — [From Avodah Zarah 11a]
:
and two kingdoms: לְאֹם always means a kingdom. — [From Avodah Zarah
2b]
will separate from your innards: From the womb they are separated,
this one to his wickedness, and this one to his innocence.
will become mightier than the other kingdom: They will not be equal in
greatness; when one rises, the other will fall, and so [Scripture]
states (Ezek. 26:2): “I shall become full from the destroyed city.”
Tyre became full [gained power] only from the destruction of
Jerusalem. — [From Meg. 6a, Pes. 42b]
(The commentators about the Torah did not believe Jesus to be Messiah
but look at this record about John the Baptist and what Jesus had to
say about the two kingdoms don’t you think they fit?)
Mt 11:9 But what went ye out to see? A prophet? yes, I say to you, and
more than a prophet.
Mt 11:10 For this is he concerning whom it is written, Behold, I send
my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee.
Mt 11:11 Verily, I say to you, among them that are born of women,
there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding,
he that is least in the kingdom of heaven, is greater than he.
Mt 11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist, until now, the kingdom
of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
Mt 11:13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
Mt 11:14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elijah who was to come.
Mt 11:15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Lu 1:31 And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a
son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
Lu 1:32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest;
and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David.
Lu 1:33 And he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever, and of his
kingdom there will be no end.
(I did not at the time know the significance of God nick naming me
“Chip”(in 2003) but as God speaks to this world through me and even
though I offer a $100.00 dollar reward in conjunction with this “Chip”
nickname and have for nearly a year now still none in the feet of the
statue will speak to God or me about this matter.)
Da 2:34 Thou sawest till a stone was cut out without hands, (Chip)
which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and
broke them to pieces.
Da 2:35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the
gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the
summer threshing-floors; and the wind carried them away, that no place
was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great
mountain, and filled the whole earth.
(In this vision God had already showed me that I Am of the mountain
that is spoken of in these visions. I took a seed harvest in 2001 and
this gathered spirit has become one spirit in me and God teaches us
His word in the body of potentate. The thing is I had this vision in
2003 and have spoken of it many times but study of these scriptures
shows that it is completely in alignment with biblical prophecy.)
Da 2:40 And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as
iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that
breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.
Da 2:41 And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potter's
clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall
be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the
iron mixed with the miry clay.
Da 2:42 And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of
clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.
Da 2:43 And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall
mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one
to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
Da 2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up
a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not
be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all
these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
Da 2:45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the
mountain, without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the
brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made
known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is
certain, and the interpretation of it sure.
Ge 25:24 And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold,
there were twins in her womb.
Ge 25:25 And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment;
and they called his name Esau.
Torah
25. And the first one emerged ruddy; he was completely like a coat of
hair, and they named him Esau.
ruddy: That is a sign that he will be a person who sheds blood (Gen.
Rabbah 63:8
he was completely like a coat of hair: full of hair like a woolen
cloak, which is full of hair, flochede in Old French.
and they named him Esau: They all called him this because he was
complete (עָשׂוּי) [lit., made,] and fully developed with hair, like
one many years old.

the first drop and Esau from the second. Go forth and learn from a
tube that has a narrow opening. Insert two stones into it, one after
the other. The one that entered first will emerge last, and the one
that entered last will emerge first. The result is that Esau, who was
formed last, emerged first, and Jacob, who was formed first emerged
last, and Jacob came to restrain him so that he (Jacob) should be the
first to be born as he was the first to be formed, and he would open
her womb and take the birthright by law. — [From Gen. Rabbah 63:8]
Esau’s heel: [This is] a sign that this one (Esau) will not manage to
complete his reign until this one rises up and takes it from him. —
[From Gen. Rabbah 63:9]
and he named him Jacob: The Holy One, blessed be He [gave him this
name]. (He said, “You named your firstborn [i.e. this refers to those
who named Esau (verse 25)]. I too will name My firstborn.” This is
what is written: “and He named him Jacob”) (Mid. Tanchuma Shemoth 4).
Another explanation: His father called him Jacob (יַעִקֹב) because of
the holding of the heel (הֶעָקֵב). (Yerushalmi Ber. 1:6
sixty years old: Ten years since he had married her until she became
thirteen years old and able to conceive, and the [following] ten years
he looked forward and waited for her, as his father had done for
Sarah. Since she did not conceive, he knew that she was barren, and he
prayed for her, but he did not wish to take a maidservant [as Abraham
had done] because he had been hallowed on Mount Moriah to be a perfect
burnt offering. — [From Pirkei d’Rabbi Eliezer, ch. 32]
Ge 25:27 And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of
the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.
Torah
27. And the youths grew up, and Esau was a man who understood hunting,
a man of the field, whereas Jacob was an innocent man, dwelling in
tents.
And the youths grew up, and Esau was: As long as they were small, they
were not recognizable through their deeds, and no one scrutinized them
to determine their characters. As soon as they became thirteen years
old, this one parted to the houses of study, and that one parted to
idol worship. — [From Gen. Rabbah 63:10; Tanchuma, Ki Theze 4]
who understood hunting: [He knew how] to trap and to deceive his
father with his mouth and ask him,“Father, how do we tithe salt and
straw?” His father thereby thought that he was scrupulous in his
observance of the commandments (Tanchuma, Toeldoth 8).
a man of the field: As its apparent meaning: an idler who hunts beasts
and birds with his bow. — [From Targum Jonathan] איש שדה: כמשמעו אדם

an innocent man: He was not an expert in all these [matters]. Like his
heart, so was his mouth. A person who is not astute at deceiving is
called תָּם, innocent

Rabbah 63:10]
Ge 25:28 And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but
Rebekah loved Jacob.
Torah
28. And Isaac loved Esau because [his] game was in his mouth, but
Rebecca loved Jacob.
in his mouth: As the Targum renders: into Isaac’s mouth. The Midrashic
interpretation is: with Esau’s mouth, for he would entrap him and
deceive him with his words. — [From Tanchuma, Toledoth 8

30. And Esau said to Jacob, "Pour into [me] some of this red, red
[pottage], for I am faint"; he was therefore named Edom.
Pour into [me]: I will open my mouth, and [you] pour very much into
it, as we learned (Shab. 155b):“We may not stuff a camel, etc. [on the
Sabbath] but we may put food into its mouth (מַלְעִטִין) .” - [From
Gen. Rabbah 63:12
some of this red, red [pottage]: red lentils. And on that day, Abraham
died, lest he see Esau, his grandson, falling into bad ways, for that
would not be the “good old age” that the Holy One, blessed be He, had
promised him. Therefore, the Holy One, blessed be He, shortened his
life by five years, for Isaac lived one hundred and eighty years, and
this one (Abraham) [lived] one hundred and seventy-five years, and
Jacob cooked lentils to feed the mourner (Isaac). But why lentils?
Because they are [round as] a wheel, for mourning is like a wheel
revolving in the world. (Also, just as lentils have no mouth [no
crack], as other beans have, so does the mourner have no mouth, for he
is prohibited from speaking. It is therefore the custom to feed the
mourner eggs at the beginning of his meal, since they are round, and
have no mouth. So too does a mourner have no mouth, as is discussed in
Mo’ed Katan (21b): “A mourner, for the entire first three days, may
not respond to anyone’s greeting, and may surely not initiate a
greeting. From the third day to the seventh, he may respond, but may
not greet, etc.” [This is found] in an old [edition of] Rashi.)- [From

Ge 25:32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what
profit shall this birthright do to me?
Torah
32. Esau replied, "Behold, I am going to die; so why do I need this
birthright?"
Esau replied, “Behold, I am going to die”: (The birthright is
something unstable, for the [sacrificial] service will not always be
the function of the firstborn, for the tribe of Levi will take it.
Furthermore,) said Esau [to Jacob], “What is the nature of this
service?” He replied, “There are many prohibitions and punishments and
death penalties involved with it, as we learned (Sanh. 83a): ‘These
are the ones who are liable to death: Those [performing the Temple
service] who have imbibed wine and those who have not cut their
hair.’” He (Esau) said,“Behold, I am going to die because of it (i.e.,
the birthright); if so, why should I want it?”
Ge 25:33 And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him:
and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.
Ge 25:34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he
did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised
his birthright.
Torah
34. And Jacob gave Esau bread and a pottage of lentils, and he ate and
drank and arose and left, and Esau despised the birthright
and Esau despised: Scripture attests to his wickedness, that he
despised the service of the Omnipresent.
