Dear Heights Family,
Thank you for all who have agreed to be a host family for Chinese students this summer! For all those who are still considering or need more information before deciding, no worries, there is still time!
Attached to this email are couple of documents.
1) Detailed itinerary of July 21-August 4 schedule
- Students will have a welcome party at Heights on Sunday, July 21st, at 1230pm. Host families are highly encouraged to attend. July 21st will also be the students' first night with their host families.
- Students will be at church during the day on July 22, July 23, July 29, and August 2 from 8am to 530pm. Please provide transportation to and from the Heights. If there are conflicts with transportation, please contact us and we will gladly help you. We can also open the building earlier or later depending on your availability to drop off or pick up the students.
- Students will be in Houston from July 24-July 25 and at camp with OA from July 30-July 31. Please drop them off at the Heights in the morning. Students will not be staying overnight with host families on these dates.
2) Host Family Application Form
- Anyone living in the home who is over 18 must submit a criminal background check attached
- Please return electronic form to twig.s...@gmail.com or il...@theheights.org. Paper copy of forms can be provided and returned to either Ivan or Twig.
Because of the difficulty applying for an American VISA and other various reasons, we do not have the final head count of the number of Chinese students coming until a later time. We need approximately 10 host families from Heights, but this is subject to change.
Please mark your calendars for our upcoming host family and volunteer orientation:
APRIL 28, SUNDAY, 2:30p to 3:30p at the Heights Courtyard Room.
We will be answering your questions and discussing details of hosting during the time. Host families are highly encouraged to attend.
Lastly, we are still in need of teachers to teach simple American cultural lessons. Curriculum is provided but teacher may create their own material. We also need lunch provided for all the students between cultural lessons at the Heights. If you would like to serve by teaching lessons or cooking meals, let us know. Please help us spread the word to your Bible Fellowships or friends regarding these opportunities to serve!
We APPRECIATE YOU so much for your time and willingness to host these Chinese students. Your love and hospitality will definitely make an eternal impact in these students' lives and we are excited for all that God will do in their lives!
Love,
