Coco Gauff fires her coach:

Finally!!!

At one point during the Gauff/Paolini, they showed an head on look at Coco during her service motion.  She not only drops her head before she makes contact, she looked to be cranking her neck in an attempt to see the ball would land..  Matt Daly should be ashamed for not fixing her service motion.

I read that news about 15 mins ago.  Kept wondering when Gauff was going to do something about fixing her serve, and forehand.  The serve is the most important at this moment.  Her ground game is good most of the time, but one can see that she has no confidence in her serve.  She is embarrassed by those high numbers in DFs.  It was so uncomfortable watching her tennis. In fact, I had stopped watching because I just cannot stand heinous tennis…as Feddy refers to it…lol.

Love you Coco!!

USO draws are out!  Sabalenka avoids Keys, and Gauff who are in the bottom half of the draw with Iga….lol.  However she may face Tauson or Rybakina who can prevent her from reaching the final.

Sinner also avoids Djokovic, Alcaraz and Medvedev ( Daniil hasn’t done much lately).  I think he can face Draper or Fritz.  Sinner resumed training today in preparation for the last Major of this year.  He was sick the day before the Cincy final, so it has taken him a few days to recover.  I hope he will be okay.  Must see another Sinner/Alcaraz final if they both get there.

This is a bit off topic.  Read today that Serena had used and might be still using one of the GLP -1 medications to assist with weight loss after she had her first daughter.  Sounds as though she used it after her second daughter’s birth also.  She said that she found it extremely difficult losing weight after her first pregnancy.  She was mid thirties at that point.

Doesn't surprise me one bit Miss Vee.  The side effects can be pretty brutal for some but if she's tolerating it why not lol.  What are your thoughts on Mboko-Barbora round 1?  rough first round for both and was hoping Victoria would go very deep.

Fedex, the question I’m going to ask you, what are the pros and cons of taking GLP-1 medication?  I’m aware that it’s intended to treat diabetes, and weight loss is a side effect that has taken the world by storm.  I have read about the possibility of pancreatitis,,and possibly pancreatic cancer.
I have also read that some individuals who took those medications can find it difficult to regain weight, even though they have tried.  Please educate me…us?  Lol!

You kinda answered my question Feddy.  Anyway, I saw that Victoria has a tough 1st round facing Barbora..  I was disappointed when I saw the draw, so no high expectations really.

I just want to say Alycia Parks beat a girl named Navarro ranked11 in the work …is Navarro a big time player to beat?

Emma Navarro came through the College system, and I remember her coming on tour when she was about 21 years old.  That’s 3 years ago.  She could have been on tour before, but that’s when I recall her being hyped by American Commentators on ESPN during GS tourneys.

She is consistent and solid player, like Pegula….nothing special.  Made top 10 a year ago, and this year has been sliding down the rankings, as we all expected.  Presently just outside the top 10, and hasn’t had ahold win in ages.  Btw, her Dad Peter Navarro is a billionaire, and owns the Cincinnati tournament, plus other businesses.  It’s a good win for Parks, because at times it’s difficult for Parks to find the court…😂.  I love Alicia Parks tennis when she is on.

Mboko’s first round draw at the USO has made the news here in Toronto….lol.  All eyes will be on her at the Open.  I think Victoria is up to the task.  Even if she loses the match, it will be a tough win for Krejikova.

Roddick’s podcast show was live last night, or was it Wednesday at the semifinals and finals of the mixed doubles.  His show producer and Jon Werthiem were present.  He did bracket predictions live in front of an audience.  His podcast has really taken off.
Of course he is doing the same thing we used to do years ago, trying to guess who will emerge champions, based on present form etc.

Day 1 all!! nothing exciting today but I think Mensik has a very dangerous first-rounder with a huge potential for going down.  Jarry is one of those veterans who lives to cause upsets of up and coming talent. He served like the 2nd coming of Sampras and Ivanisevic's love child against Fonseca at Wimbledon.

Lol FedEx.  I know you are speaking of the ATP.  However, the WTA has an exciting matchup…..Vicky Mboko vs Barbora Krejcikova as a first round.  Sincerely hope that Mboko can get this win tomorrow.  Don’t want to miss it.
We also have Tauson vs Eala in the first round.
Medvedev vs Bonzi who beat beat Daniil in either Toronto or at Wimby to the best of my knowledge.  I know Sekasi will be interested in this match.

For a second, you had me confused as to the day of the week.  It’s only Saturday today Fed.  Can’t believe that I’m looking forward to the last GS of the year.  Where has the year gone?  Only 4 months left.

Would you all believe that today,,Serena Williams inducted Maria Sharapova into the tennis Hall of Fame…lol.  They have certainly become the closest of friends.  It seems earlier this year, Maria called Serena and asked her to be the one introducing her into the tennis hall of Fame, and Serena said yes to Maria before she finished her question.  That’s deep y’all!  They both have now seen that their rivalry made them the best of competitors, turning animus, into respect, and eventually into a lifelong friendship.

Fedex, I think you tried to set up Day 1 yesterday…lol. It’s now Sunday.

Matches of potential interest:
Shelton vs Buse( never heard of the latter)
Sabalenka vs Masaraova
Medvedev vs Bonzi
Mensik vs Jarry
Tauson vs Eala
Raducanu vs Shibarhara (never heard of her either, but I would like to see if Raducanu can have a deep run here).
Fernandez vs Marino ( 2 Canadians fighting to reach the second round)

Miss Vee re: Serena and Maria, they both bond over probably how they would decimate these peasants in their prime

Lol Fedex.  You are right of course about Maria and Serena.  I managed to have a listen to Serena’s speech, and she definitely leaned into her first loss at Wimbledon to Maria at age 17 years old, and was very complimentary to Maria in her speech of course.   They both acknowledged the fact that they were more alike in temperament, than different.

Mensik wins first round against a dangerous opponent.  Fed, I see that Mensik has your attention…lol.  I think we all thought that he would kick off after that terrific run in Miami.  He is about to turn 20 years old during this USO.  He is still up and down, but hopefully will have a deep run here in New York.

Fernandez won her first round match also.  Marino will collect $110G for her first round appearance.  Not too shabby, considering that could be prize money for winning a WTA tour title.

lol yup Miss Vee.  Miami got my attention but not only that I was worried about Jarry.  I could've sworn he was prime Fed/Pete/djoker/Nadal against Fonseca at Wimbledon.

Honestly Fedex, I’m not really fond of Eala’s game.  I keep wondering why she has developed such a big fan base.  She plays with such desperation in her game.  Tauson was up 2 breaks in the 3rd set, now she has 1 break,,and will serve for the match again.  Hoping that she wins the match.

She really isn't that good.  It's the backing of an entire country and large cult following.  Tauson is a head case beyond words.  About to lose this.  This is like Petrova-Morigami level upset lol

Yeah, and Tauson needs more guts….more internal fortitude.  If she had Coc’s mental strength this would not be happening to her.

This girl hasn't won a match in 2 months and beats Tauson who had a strong summer.  Nadia Petrova was the founding great-grandmother of this nonsense.

You would think Eala won this tournament….lol.  Eala was simply teeing off in that 3rd set.  Tauson has to become more mentally fit.

Medvedev seems unable to adapt his game to prevent his downward slide.  He cracks me up.  I saw what happened last night, and he was up a break twice in that 5th set.  Bonzi broke back each time.  Medvedev’s game style is not doing it for him any longer. Don’t worry, Bonzi will not last beyond 2nd or 3rd round.
