The other thread got locked so starting this but vamos!!!  Age 22 and has won 3/4 majors twice now.  Total domination today outside of one service game in the 2nd.  He served so well today although the 1st serve % could've been better.  42 winners to 21 in favor of Carlos.

Bianca I like sinner but I think you know my feelings about the “misunderstanding “ but Carlos has been my kid for a long time.
Is he number 1 now?

The thing that puts me off about Sinner is he is with Cahill who was also once with Halep.
Yes, he is a good athlete that doesn't need dope but so are many other athletes caught doping.
I only appreciated him for beating Nole, but now that Alcaraz is over that mental block, I am on the sides with him.

Sek remember I never was big on Haley she was a low ranked average player on tour who over night went top 10 and it never made sense to me

Sek, I feel the same way.what got me to root for sinner was his maturity and ice like cold attitude. And like you he has novaks number ,so I enjoy that. Listen I sound like a broken record but if Serena would have been caught even with the most minimal, or “accidentally” stuff ,she would have been chastised and ran from the sport. And you right about Cahill,I used to like him when he works with Andre, but after the incident with simona and then sinner  I can’t wonder but to think he knew what was going on.

Hey guys, what I was saying about Sinner as opposed to Alcaraz in this tournament.  Alcaraz has tidied up his game.  His second serve won him that match.  Mental lapses are a thing of the past…hopefully.  Since I was watching both Sinner and Alcaraz throughout the tournament, I could see that Sinner was a tad off in his service games.  Never mind that beat down of Bublik who was tired, Sinner looked very vulnerable to Shapo and to Felix.  I knew Alcaraz would take this one, because Sinner was not at his best.

Sorry Missvee again not in agreement, sinner played as good as he could ,Carlos just suffocated him. Good to see he learned from Wimbledon.. Carlos was crushing the forehand and volley and served exceptionally well.. if sinner can’t boss you around the court with his power he got no plan b.

Watching the replay on the final, because I had a backyard bbq with neighbours to celebrate the end of summer.  So I missed the second half if the third set and 4th sets.

In his post match presser, Sinner admitted that Alcaraz was serving better and was steady, used more variety, and more consistent than usual.  So he now has to go back the drawing board…lol.  They keep making each other better players.

Now to finish this convo, as we know Carlos has to stay focused that’s the difference between the two , sinner  is going to go practice and Carlos is going to party 😂 gets a bit cocky . And has a “ hangover “ metaphorically after a great win. Sinner is the boring guy.

You are right sugar.  Sinner did say that also in his interview, that Carlos did what he (Sinner) had done to Carlos at Wimbledon.  He said that he was surprised by Alcaraz’s play.

sugar, Sinner can play better than he was playing today.  He was handcuffed by Carlos’ play, just as Carlos was handcuffed by Sinner at Wimbledon.  I knew that Carlos had a better chance at the win, based on his form  throughout the tournament.  Sinner was service games were mediocre, not just today, but in many of his matches starting at the first round.

One more thing sugar.  I had heard yesterday during the women’s final, that Sinner did not practice that day in preparation for today’s final.  The only time that happens is when a player is carrying an injury, that they don’t want to disclose, and also to save their body for the match itself. Heard that from James Blake, who said that he didn’t know the reason for it, because the team was keeping everything about Sinner close to the vest.

I think that’s was my reason for being so confident that Carlos would win this encounter.  Sinner was not consistently great during the tournament, and a suspicion that Sinner was not fully fit.  I admire him for not confirming anything about a potential issue, because he doesn’t want to offer any excuses for his loss today.

Congrats to Carlos!! He is truly something else. And yes. at his best, he is better than Sinner. Though Sinner at his best leaves very little room for error on Alcaraz’s part.

Also, I’m glad with this win it’ll put a stop to  the pundits forcing Sinner down our throats for awhile. After he won Wimbledon, they were acting like he was gonna be an unstoppable force. I know they want the white Sinner to be the face of the sport, but that’s not gonna happen barring an Alcaraz serious injury , because the truth is, Carlito is the heart of the tour at the moment, in my opinion.

And now, as we move into the rest of the season and year end finals, I hope Alcaraz can keep up the momentum heading into the AO next year. That career slam is oh so close!

Um nadals, is Carlos not considered part of the White race?  Are Spanish people not part of the Caucasian race?  I’m a bit confused by that assertion that the tennis establishment wants to shove Jannik Sinner down our throats, because I’m of the impression that everyone thinks Carlos is the more talented player.  Everyone is excited to see how these two players keep pushing each other, and which one will end up the more big titles and GS titles.
Personally I think Carlos will do better than Jannik Sinner, but the story has not been fully told.

I had actually returned to mention that I heard Trump was mercilessly booed at the USO.  However broadcasters were asked to censor any booing of Trump, and the USTA capitulated to their requests.

Miss Vee, Carlos is technically white/caucasian, but let’s not act like a lot of white people don’t see Hispanic/Latinos as part of the race.

Miss Vee living in the south Florida area there is large Cuban,Venezuelan,Dominican,Puerto Rican and Columbian populations here. From their own mouths they consider themselves white/caucasian decent ….they vote so as well if I’m not mistaken over 50% of Hispanic men voted for Trump. Carlos is a spaniard they are white/caucasion ..there are so many stories of black soccer players being called monkey while playing in Spain. We definitely shouldn’t claim people who don’t want any proximity to being an ethnic minority …
However love his tennis he is that guy.

That’s crazy Bianca , lol but I have met some of those, Spaniards are European and considered white, yes there are some  regions in Spain ,like the Andalusian area that are look frowned upon from the Catalonian side.but every Latin person knows we are a mixture of ,Indian ,Afro and white.yes some of us may look more white than other but we know our ancestors, now if some  want to deny is on them.

I actually was going to state as well sugar, that I’m aware historical accounts of Spain, have mentioned “Moors” living in Spain.  “ Moors” as I understand are dark skin toned…may have been black, or Indian.  So your acknowledging that Latin people are aware of the mixed blood confirms that also.

Bianca, we here in Canada heard that the majority of Hispanics voted for Trump, because they want to consider themselves white.
