Sabalenka vs Jovic. Does the latter have a chance at beating Aryna?

Zverev vs Tien…. I cannot wait to se this one!

Gauff vs Svitolina.  Gauff in straights.

Carlos vs De Minaur….    It even interested in watching this one.  Will be sleeping anyway.

I want to watch all these matches. I need to find a way to stay awake. It doesn't look like ESPN will show us the Jovic match live.

Are you kidding Sek?  That’s so wrong!  This match is about to start on Rod Laver.  Listening to Chris Evert describe Sabalenka’s ball, I doubt Iva Jovic will be able to contend with Sabalenka’s power.   Chris did mention the fact that Jovic hasn’t played anyone with great power.  So let’s see what happens here.

Jovic isn’t intimidated by Sabalenka’s power….lol.  She is actually trading shots well.

However, Jovic will be lucky to take a set off Sabalenka.  Of course she’s being hyped.  She cannot handle Sabalenka’s power…not yet.

I must say Sek, she is also a thinker out there. If she keeps this competitive mindset, she should do well on tour.  She has a clean ground game, and is intelligent on court, has good speed around the court.  Will keep an eye on this young girl’s progress on tour.  She only just turned 18 in December.

This is kid is getting into Sabalenka’s service game now, who just served an ace to erase a break point.  Set point here, but Jovic has fought so hard to hold serve, and that’s impressive.  Deuce again. Jovic will be a force, and she is consistent off the ground.

Weii, the kid Jovic fought as hard as she can do.  Sabalenka has the double break now in the second set.  However, it will be a while before she beats Sabalenka, or maybe any of the top 10 players.

Sek, this kid Jovic has been in contact with Novak.  I think the story is that Novak got in touch with her maybe through instagram, and she was ecstatic that he messaged her.   It seems he told her that he was keeping an eye on her development.  Maybe her Dad set it up.  She has a Croatian and Serbian background.  Anyway she asked for his advice, so he gave her a few tips, and she has been using them on court. 

Anyway, Jovic will eat a bagel this set it seems , because Sabalenka is serving for the match at 5-0 in the second set.  However the kid keeps fighting for a game here….lol.

Good experience for her. Wish her well in her development. We will wait next year and see the progress she makes.

Yes sugar.  I see that Sasha seems to be not vulnerable to being broken yet.  Sasha is used to playing lefties.  His brother and sometimes stand in coach, is his practice partner still I think.  Can’t remember his brother’s name, but he was an ATP players, who had more success in doubles.

Funny enough, I’m not a fan.  His body doesn’t present as masculine enough to me…lol. Don’t really like his tennis either.  However, his results speak for itself.  We cannot like every player.

I fell asleep during the Tien match, I was hoping he would pull the upset. 

I see Coco won only 3 games against Mrs Monfils. Happy for Svitolina but Coco, what happened?

I am watching Alcaraz-De minaur, Alcaraz keeps pulling ahead but De Minaur is playing very very well. He has broken back a few times, but Carlos was able to take the first set.

Now we are in set 2, Carlos up a break.

My goodness Sek, Coco got demolished in that match against Svitolina.  I think conditions were different for her, because she said this is the first night match that she had played.  Nevertheless, how long has she been on tour?  I’m very surprised that she wasn’t able to dig herself out of this one.  She actually should be ashamed about this result…this was a beat down in less than an hour.  Girl…..

3 winners and 26 UFEs for Coco.  Ghastly.  She was the only one I feel who could take down Sabalenka but alas here we are now.

It is really bad. The positive about this is Coco is trying to correct her technique.

I do watch when she is playing a tough match. My eyes are always on that FH. There is a slight improvement but I think last night she just could not get anything going.

Sek, your comment says everything about Gauff’s game.  Here she is ranked #4 in the world, having fallen from No 2 now, and her game is so bad most of the time….so freaking ugly ( and I wanted to use a different “F” word), that I cannot stand it.  She is insanely wealthy now because of these endorsements and only 21 years old.  I cannot begrudge her that wealth, because companies like big results from athletes.   

I like Gauff, and simply want her to improve her game.  It’s embarrassing especially because Svitolina would have been crushed by a different skilled opponent.

Bianca, you are right to be nervous. Hopefully new Amanda is ready to get her first win against Pegula.

Pegula is very consistent and will backboard Amanda into UEs.

When I heard that Amanda had never beaten Pegula, i was very surprised.  It makes sense however, because Jess is a backboard, and has now implemented forward movement to the net into her game.  Amanda can turn this H2H around  tonight.

Bianca, Coco had been playing marginally better.  Sek is coreect that her forehand looked better for the most part, and she wasn’t serving double digits DF.  I was so sure that she would beat Svitolina, that I didn’t even think about it.  I was stunned when I arose this morning to see that she was humiliated by Svitolina.🙄.

Coco got her clock cleaned real good. Might be the beat down she needed to realize she has a lot of work to do.

2-3 years from now, Coco will be a different player.
