I don't really care too much about this tournament but Lilli Tagger has my eye.  I thought she played similarly to Schiavone/CSN and what do you know, she is coached by Schiavone.  Miss Vee, I think you may have mentioned her already?  Don't know if I see the big weapon yet but a very nice game to watch.  She's less Henin/Mauresmo and more Fran/Carla so far.

Fedex, I wish I could watch this tournament, but I have to wait for the small video clips on YouTube.  I saw a clip of her vs Badosa a couple of days ago.  Then saw one her Tagger vs Samsonova today.  This girl plays beautiful tennis.  When she is able to put her game solidly together, as she develops she will be tough to beat.
You are right.  Her game is more like Schiavone, than Henin/Mauresmo.  I’m hoping that she does well enough in Linz, to get into the top 50.  She will then gain direct entry into the Masters series, and hopefully kick on from there.

Fedex, I had mentioned the name in passing, because I had read about her last year as one of the teens to watch.  She had won a bunch of ITF tournaments at some point last year.  She had been mentioned in the same breath as Mboko and Jovic as promising teen players.  One article mentioned that because she had so many options in her game, at times she lost matches because of wrong shot selection etc.  That sounds exciting to me.  Reminds me of Federer as he had the same problem initially.  He was inconsistent for awhile.  Once he put it together, there was no stopping him.

Lilli Tagger lost to Potapova today in straight sets.  She literally went away in the second set…bagelled.  Not surprised however.  It’s not because Potapova is a great player, it’s partly because I suspect Taggert had not recovered from her top 20 wins.  I know Samsonova is still top 20.  Anyhow she is now securely in top 100, and will be able to play Madrid Masters at least.

Watching the women’s final in Linz on a French channel from Montreal…lol.  Andreeva is looking to pick up points, because she has been dropping in the rankings.  She is still #10.  However if she wins today, she will switch places with Mboko, who is #9, and who will not see action until April 23 during Madrid tournament.  Mboko has been recovering from dental surgery, and probably working on her game during this time off the tour.

It seems as if Andreeva’s surge into the top 10 might be ending soon.  Her development has stalled.  She definitely needs something different to amp her up game.  Potapova is running rings around Mirra in this final.

Hmm…Andreeva has fought back.  On serve now in the 3rd set.

Andreeva won after eating a breadstick in the first set.
