I’m slightly conflicted by this news that Carlos has made the decision to let go of his primary coach of the past 7 years.  The article has not stated that it was a mutual decision.  In fact Juan Carlos said in the article….”I wish that I could have continued.”

My personal thoughts lately were that JCF may have been more of a hindrance to Carlos’ development….psychologically.  I have always felt that. Carlos relies on him too much, in matches.  Hope it works out well for Carlos.

The big question is who is the next coach and how long will it take for Carlos to settle in.
Maybe Nole should retire and take on that role. Roger and Rafa are busy with their families.
Carlos Moya? Agassi?
Much as the news caugh us off guard, I think Carlos could benefit from the change. The question is who?

Actually I had wind of this possible split, immediately after the ATP Tour final in Turin, but I thought it was a hoax.  Those who follow tennis in Spain were not surprised by this news apparently.  It seems that Carlos’ Dad might have had a hand in this decision.  The noise coming out of his camp is that his Dad doesn’t like the direction that JCF wants to take Carlos.  I’m sure the inside story will eventually be unearthed.  It’s now about 2 weeks to the start of 2026 tennis season.  Carlos may start the season with his second coach, while they try to look for another head coach.

Apparently it seems it was a contract dispute and the people around Carlos didn't want to pay up.

JCF seems to be hurting, I wish he would stop talking to the media. I don't think Alcaraz is mentally strong enough to handle all this negative press.
JCF claims it is not the money.

I know Sek!  JCF must not be aware that he should simply keep quiet about this occurrence.  It’s between JCF and the family.  Carlos Alcaraz has always had his parents, especially his Dad overseeing everything.  I’m not sure when he will have the courage, to make his own decisions.  I guessing it must be the fact that Carlos has a different vision for himself, on how to conduct his tennis affairs moving forward.

Sek, from reading JCF clarifying statements re: split, it seems as if he’s trying to stop the misinformation spreading out there in the media.  Everyone seems to be running with whispered information….lol.  Anyway the full truth will eventually be revealed to us all.

Miss_Vee, I am happy with the split, but I don't like the fact that the head coach is also part of JCF's academy.
I wanted to see a coach who teaches Carlos winning a different way. He needs to add some Robot element for the big finals.
That being said, JCF needs to shut up. Whatever happened will work itself out at some point. Right now he is hurting Carlos who he claims to still care for.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good night 😴…..lol.
It’s now Christmas night, and I must say that I have had a wonderful Christmas season this year. I love everything about Christmas because my birthday is December 23rd.  Even though it’s overlooked every year, I still enjoy the fact that I was born so close to what we all celebrate as the day of Jesus’ birth.  So now everyone knows that I’m a year older than I was, for most of the year….😀
All the best of health, peace and contentment to my fellow board members this night.

Merry Christmas and happy new year, friends. I was in Colombia when I read the news. In my opinion all good things come to an end.i don’t understand the move, after coming from perhaps his best season, iberica news showed an interview with JC saying there was lack of communication and as fedix stated some contract issues. I love my Carlos but rumors in the Spaniard community is Carlos is super marketable as opposed to sinner ,he is having a lot of opportunities to be more than tennis ,JC wants Carlos to spend more time on the practice court but Carlos wants to do things his ways.which them both the best.

Did he choose a new coach yet?

Carlos is sticking with his second coach Fernando Lopez, who was installed last year to assist Ferrero, when he was unable to travel for some tournaments.  JCF wanted more family time, because that he has 3 young kids.  Carlos and his Dad wanted more of JCF’s time, so they had offered him less money, and gave him 48 hours to reply to their offer to stay on as head coach.  That to me, was insulting.  However, Carlos’ Dad knew that was the only way to end the relationship…brutal.  No negotiation.

I know.  Carlos himself must have signed off on it, but he had his Dad handle the offer to JCF, who was stunned at what had occurred, and deeply hurt by their actions.  In an interview afterward in order to set the record straight, he said that he expected to sit down with them to renegotiate his contract.  He was cut off at the knees.  Apparently his Dad and Carlos had a different vision from Ferrero, about the approach to being ‘best ever to play tennis.’  I suppose that’s why the ending had to be so brutal…to get their point across to JCF.  I think there was a better way to handle it.  It seems that Juan Carlos has been profoundly shaken up at the loss, and admits he is grieving it.  He’s not yet ready to coach anyone else.

sek just seeing this.  Not sold on Ant yet.  In an era that restricts physical defense and is made for offense, Ant's #'s aren't that impressive.  He's basically putting up 2001-2002 Jerry Stackhouse #'s but in a much easier era for offenses.  Ant is not a good playmaker yet either.  He's a very good 1A or 1B scoring option at this point with some solid defense.  These Jordan comparisons are irritating.  He's still very young so we'll see how he ends up but he's not in the SGA, Jokic, Giannis camp yet.

Fedex if I was to buy stock, I am putting 50% of my 401K on Ant. He is hungry and keeps improving every season. I think the Jordan comparisons are more to do with the resemblance.
I am not an SGA fan with all his flops. Jokic is definitely on a different level.
