I don't really agree with the arguments of the nature that so-n-so in their prime would mop up the current era. Yes, some great players in their prime, would be comparative (and some would dominate) in any era.
With that said, looking at this match sort of gives me the same type of amazement that I had when Big George Foreman return turned to boxing (some 14 years later and 40-60lbs heavier than he was in his prime).
I was surprised that as slow as Foreman was (and as stationary), that he was able to win any bouts at all.
Yes, I'm surprised that this version of Venus is in actually in this match at all. Before hand, I would have wagered that she would not have won more than 2 or 3 games for the match against the 13th ranked, 11th seeded player at the USO.
