I am worried about Coco, I think Osaka will win this one.

Men:
Possible popcorn:
Musetti vs Munar
Sinner vs Bublik

I’m sort of concerned a bit about Coco, but she is serving better.  She is the better athlete, and can frustrate Osaka with sending balls back relentlessly….lol.  However Osaka has found her form, and seems healthy.  The crowd will be lifting Gauff.  In my mind, it’s still 60-40 for Osaka, but she hasn’t been at this stage for 4 years now.  Let’s see.

Miss_Vee, what about that Musetti-Munar match? I am leaning towards Munar.

I’m hoping that Musetti wins that match, but Munar is tough to beat.
FAA should really be not losing to Rublev.

I suppose we are not going to have great matches until tonight.  Hope that Felix can hold his nerve, until he finishes this match as the winner.  My guess is Felix wants to add a cool 1-5 million dollars to his bank account.  More money for his upcoming nuptials….lol

I didn’t watch all of it, but what I’m seeing from Felix has been very good in the last 2 matches.
Are you aware that Felix is marrying Ajla Tomljanovic’s cousin?  Apparently Ajla introduced them, when she was Berrettini’s girlfriend, around 2019.   These boys are settling down early.  Felix just turned 25 years old Aug 8th this year.  Shapo was 26 years in April.  ADF tied the knot just before Wimby.  He’s also 26 years old.  Ruud (26)is getting married next year I think.  De Minaur is also 26 years old, tying the knot this year also.  Whew!

Next will be a baby boom amongst these players…lol.

Canadian press have been rough on Shapo, after his loss to Sinner, when he had the momentum, and distinct advantage in that match.  The reporter took issue with Denis reluctance to accept the fact, that he lost the plot when he was arguing with his coaching team, at an important juncture in that match.  The reporter had questioned what happened in his thoughts that took him off target.  Shapo refuses to accept that he isn’t as disciplined as he could be, in these important matches.  I noticed that Denis downplayed his mental struggles at that point.

Just heard that Bublik hasn’t had his serve broken all tournament.  I’m very wary of the Sinner/Bublik matchup tonight.  Bublik can take Sinner out, if Sinner is off, and in my opinion Sinner is off his game a tad.  Not serving well, but his mental toughness made the difference on Saturday vs Shapo.  Let’s see what happens tonight.

Bublik is on fire, the question is will he be motivated to fight to the end?

Oops, missed the start of Osaka/Gauff.  Naomi up a break in the first set.
I think Swiatek wins this tournament.  I called it at Wimbledon also, unless she faces Krejikova, if Barbora’s health holds up.

Miss_Vee, we all know Shapo is capable of beating anyone, he is just not angry and hungry enough to make changes.
Some players are just that way.

Naomi is playing very well, but Gauff is hanging on to her serve now as well as she can do that at this moment.  Let’s see if Naomi will take this first set.

Musetti is already up a break in his first set, on Munar.

Omg Sek, did you see the forehand miss and 2 DF by Coco Gauff to give her serve, and the first set?  Osaka’s power is too much for Coco in this match.  Osaka might suffer a let down, after taking the first set, because she tends to take her foot off the gas.

Honestly Sek, I love the young woman that Coco Gauff has become, but her game is hideous.  Ugh!  Watching her matched up against this great version of Osaka, I feel so bad for her.  Mind you, my sympathy is wasted, because she is racking up the dollars.

Miss_Vee, the reason I feel bad for Coco is she has so much potential if only she could take like a fall season off and just work on things.
She might be getting the millions but Coco is one of those players who would rather collect trophies than endorsements. Same with Sabalenka.

sugar, did you actually expect Gauff to beat Naomi in this match?  She is dealing with too much in her head, trying to correct a massive problem…her serve, during this huge tournament.  I thought that she would bring more of her ground game, but she was against an Osaka, who seems to be back at her best.  Naomi gave her nothing in that match, and her serve was a bit overwhelming for Gauff.  Osaka also targeted Coco’s forehand, which fell apart, and even her backhand deserted her.  It was a bad match from Coco.

Sugar, have you watched Bublik lately?  He is sort of a different animal now.  Plays with intention now.  He beat Jannik at Halle, so he knows he can do it.  Will he able to do it over 5 sets?  That’s the question.  I’m a bit concerned about this match for Sinner, whom I think hasn’t played his best tennis….yet.  If Shapo had been able to hold his mental strength together a bit longer, I’m not sure Jannik would be in this match tonight.

Sinner has come to play.  His team made sure that he’s ready for this match.  Bublik said that Sinner is an AI generated tennis player.😂

Jannik in this match reminds me of Serena in mentality.  Sharapova beat Serena at Wimbledon for her  first Major title, and Serena never let her win another Major in which they were in finals.

Jannik was defending Champion at Halle this year, and he beat Jannik in SF.  Jannik beat him at RG, and it seems here, that he wants to send Bublik a message…lol.  “ It will be a cold day in hell before you beat me again.”

Miss Vee, Jannik looks absolutely frightening tonight.  To hit that big consistently without missing is insane.  And Naomi winning should shock no one.

Sinner didnt admit it, but I think Shapo having the advantage on him in that match on Saturday for 2 sets, must have scared him.  He wasn’t comfortable, and he went out after that match to sharpen his game.  He was scary tonight.  However Bublik played until 1:00 a.m Sat night.  He was a tad jaded in this match.

I watched Venus and Leylah’s doubles,,and they played very well together.  Leylah has become a very good doubles player, and she and Venus back each other up so well.  Both have great hands at the net, and Leylah is very effective on her service games also.  It was so much fun.

I was surprised it was Leyla's team that called Venus asking to play doubles here. I had assumed Venus initiated it.
