the more one-dimensional the player, the quicker confidence can vanish ... players who have a lot of variety can play their way out of trouble in different ways ...

players who do one thing well have nowhere to turn when that one thing stops working

Seriously. I thought she was going to be better than Kerber in the long run. She was always sort of behind that Kerber-Petkovic-Georges pack but a lot of people thought she would slowly work her way up to their level, if not overtake them altogether.
