Alright good people, here we are:

Rybakina vs Iga (3 sets)
Pegula vs Amanda
Musetti to be routined by Nole
Ben vs Sinner (Sinner will not get another day match at AO as long as Cahill is his coach)

Sek, I do believe that Sinner should have stuck with his other sporting love….downhill skiing.  I’m not his physician, but I could have,  and should have gone to medicine when I finished Nursing at College.

Anyway, I’m positive that Sinner has this genetic disorder that applies to red haired pale skin people,,which causes his body to more sensitive to heat Stroke.  They have abnormally low melanin…or something.  In short his body burns up.  Im sure his body loses fluids very quickly, and important electrolytes.  Something adverse happened to Sinner in that first set against his third round opponent, because he lost his way and the set.  That’s not usual.  Sinner cannot be the sun ( extreme heat) uncovered for any length of time.

In fact, I’m not the only person holding that theory.  I found several online posts that referenced the sane condition.  There is another ATP player who has the same colouring and red hair like Sinner.  He came out and said that he too cannot play in the extreme heat.  I think Sinner knows that he has this condition, and that he has to live with it, because there is very little that he can do about it.  He has made himself very, very fit.  He has to limit his sun exposure.  He cannot request special exemption.  Nobody wants to reveal that is his weakness.  If Sinner’s mind wasn’t as strong as it is at present, he would have had to retire from that match, because he was a goner.  The tournament didn’t treat him as a special case, because they waited until the heat index reached 5.0, and closed the roof.  Nobody can blame him for that one.

I was hiding…just looked at the score occasionally.  Then I saw Rybakina win the first set.  Go Elena!!

Game, set, match!
Isn’t Iga like the best returner in the game? Why was she trying to go toe to toe with Ryba. If she wants to get back to her dominant self she needs to go back to her constructing points, when she will find those corners.

Rybakina is into the SF.  Swiatek always looks bad facing Rybakina, although Ostapenko really humbles Iga….7-0
If Anisimova gets through, that SF will be indeed be Big Babe Tennis.

More than a year ago.  Cannot really recall, but it had to be in 2024….maybe late 2024.  Didn’t like her gamesmanship.  More than that, whenever I saw her become so ruffled when she was losing a match, I felt as the WTA #1, that she had to really think her way out of the difficult situations.  Felt that she relied too much on her psychologist sitting in her box.

Fed, you have to know that Pegula will try and employ similar tactics on Rybakina if they meet in the SF.  Rybakina is slow footed…same as Amanda, but I’m hoping that Rybakina can blow her off the court as she did in Saudi.

Can you believe it Fedex?  I cannot believe how bad Amanda is serving today.  She has lit up the stat sheets, and this is a total error filled ugly match from her.  I hope that Elena Rybakina handles Pegula smarter tomorrow night…..if it’s Pegula.

Elena loses not because of stupidity but because of her mind being distracted.  If Rybakina's serve is clicking, Pegula has no shot.

Fedex, it will be a tough match for both of them.  I know that Jessica’s style of play will bother Elena.  However, I’m thinking that the SF will be late afternoon to night session, or both night session.  I hope that Rybakina takes it.

Sek….I think Musetti is in trouble.  He pulled up when Djokovic played a wide shot cross court, and stopped chasing the ball as his serve was broken at 0.   Now he’s receiving on court assessment and possibly treatment.  Don’t know if he will be able to resume play.  Damn it!

I am going to repeat my observation on why I think Ben is no challenge to someone like Sinner.
Ben's game is very predictable, big FH, big serve, BH slice (in my opion , most ineffective BH slice). Decent assets, but the top players can read his game like an open book.
He loads, but by the time he releases the shot, the opponent is positioned and waiting. This is where a new person on the team would be helpful.
The dad is very happy with the progress and talks like Ben has game to compete with Sinner, but he doesn't.

Ben is about making the game like a reality show,  a parasocial experience, and bro culture.  It's all entertainment to him.  For that reason,  he's not a serious threat to Sinner or Carlos. Even his working out is more for aesthetics and superficial reasons, not because he wants to be the best.  With his serve and physique, imagine if he played Rafa's physical style.  Unbeatable.

I understand your position on Ben Shelton, and agree that unless they bring in a new pair of eyes, that Ben’s career has stalled at present.  He cannot truly compete with the top 2 guys.  He couldn’t even take Sinner to a tiebreak.  It seems that Ben will continue to have gradual diminishing returns (literally and figuratively) against Sinner’s game.

You give someone like De Minaur, Ferrer, Davidovich-Fokina, Davydenko, etc Ben's weapons, we are talking 5+ slams at least. This is why I can't stand him.  He's a clown who's into social media clout and making him and Trinity the new it couple like they are Kardashians, Jenners, or Swift lol. .

Sek, here's the problem I have.  Legacy used to be the currency, now it's optional.  Greatness used to be proven over time, now it's declared early; respect used to be earned quietly, now it's demanded loudly.  Basically it used to be, win first, be undeniable, and the rest follows.  Now it's be visible first, monetize, and winning is a bonus.  The system rewards this bs.  Social media engagement, NIL nonsense, highlight-driven optics as opposed to true deep analytics, and a reality-TV based narratives as opposed to about competition-based.  He represents exactly what I hate about the modern decay of sports-culture.

Fedex, you are coorect but I think what you are describing is mainly an American issue.
Sugar,  I am not kidding about the dad comment.
Last night he was talking about how Ben's slice is so effective and IMO, that shot is garbage, he can put it back on the shelf.
I hate to say this but Ben's tennis IQ is a bit low. i am the only onw who watches a few of his games, so you guys can not argue with me, lol.

Now on the other hand, Musetti last night had Novak completely off the rails.
Novak came in aggressive and Musetti was like if you are gonna go aggressive, I am going to play a brain game.
Problem is every point was so much brain energy, he literally worked each point like it was chess. He was spent after the second set.
Musetti hit so many lobs over Nole and we all know Nole's over head shot, lol.
Interestingly, Musetti respects Carlos' game so much, he plays aggressive everytime they meet.

Sek, I can agree with you with the American issue, but due to the fact that the USA is the window to most of the world and with social media being what it is, the whole world is becoming a cesspool of over entitlement.

Ben’s dad is the problem. All these tennis fathers need to get it in their heads the Richar Williams protocol will never be replicated.

What is left to be said?  You guys have said it all.   I did not see the match.  All that I can comment on are stats from the match, which tell a tale, but I can't see the full story through the stats.   Did Svitolina blow Coco off the court, or did Coco implode.    I don't see Svitolina as the push over that you guys make her out to be.  But clearly going in I thought Coco should have handled her rather easily.
I did actually see some of Coco's earlier matches, and thought that she performed well.

I am glad to see that Coco is really upset about her results.

Now I'm just rooting for someone to take out Sabalenka.  I don't care who else wins it at this point.

Re: Musetti’s injury last night, it seems that he felt something early in the second set high in his leg/groin region, but won the second set.  However his body language told the team that something was wrong.  At the start of the 3rd set, he pulled up as I had described in an earlier post.  He seemed to identify the injury himself, because he had dealt with it previously. He didn’t want to make it worse.  So he retired from the match.  From all reports he seems to think that it now might be a tear in that area.  Will have it formally diagnosed.
