This tournament is now set.  Came down to the final tournament of the season.  Djokovic beat Musetti today, so FAA qualified for Turin.  Then Djokovic withdrew from the ATP final, handing his spot to Musetti.  I suppose Djokovic wanted that title badly.  He never intended playing Turin.

I don’t remember the names of the groups, but here they are:

Alcaraz
Musetti
Fritz
DeMinaur

Sinner
Zverev
Shelton
Auger Aliassime

Good luck guys.  I’m hoping for a fantastic tournament.  Carlos isn’t the best on fast indoor hardcourt, so we shall see what happens during the next week.

Dayum!  Why did I think this tournament started on Monday.  It starts tomorrow…right in the heels of the end of the WTA final.
Schedule for tomorrow’s singles matches, which are book ended by doubles matches.

Alcaraz vs DeMinaur (Group A)
Zverev vs Ben Shelton (Group B)

Apparently Felix has been in Turin waiting to see how who won Athens.  Has been practicing quietly elsewhere.  Usually this tournament’s participants is decided before the second week in Nov.  Anyway, I will be watching tomorrow, because I have nowhere to go.  Seems this fair city will be seeing its first snowfall of the ?fall..😂

Shelton is who he is and this is what he will be going forward.  He is utterly useless.

Oh lord Fed!  Shelton did try his best today, but he still has far to go….if he ever gets there.  Know what Fedex?  These matches are not quite cutting it for me.  Didn’t really watch Carlos vs DeMinaur, because I was a bit busy.  Watched Shelton vs Zverev.  Maybe if Shelton keeps meeting this level of player, his game might improve over the next year or so.  Don’t know how much more of an upside I see in his game.  However he hung in there to take it to a tiebreak in the second set, and then blew all of his chances…..lol.

No, no Miss_Vee. Zverev is Shelton's daddy. Most guys already figured out how to beat Zverev, Ben has not won a match against him. H2H is now 5-0.
Ben just does not have good game plans or if he does, he is not executing.

Maybe Brian Shelton needs to bring in another great coach to see what another person can add to Ben’s game.

He is one of those players that need Brad Gilbert (winning ugly).
I feel like Ben overthinks the game every time, but when playing guys like Zverev, only strategy is bash the ball and stay away from his BH.

lol Sek.
Felix decided to allow Jannik to serve first, because he won the toss.  That may have been a huge mistake, because Sinner just drilled a ferocious backhand to win the first point…lol.  Anyhow, Felix is ahead in the score in his first serving game.

I missed something in the first set.  When did Felix pick up this injury?  He has had to fight so hard to hold his serve.  Sinner up 2-1 with a break in the second set.

Felix has an injury, and I don’t know the scope of his injury.  However this match is done, as Sinner now serves for it.

It became noticeable when Felix started serving in the 5-6 game (in the first set).  After serving an ace to go up 30-0, he took several seconds to grab/massage his left calf muscle.  The announcers took notice on the next point, and mentioned that Felix actually grimaced instead of moving to put away a shot that he should have.

Ouch Star!  Thanks!  That’s rough, because he had taken a week off to rest as much as possible hoping that he would qualify for Turin.  Such bad luck, and he was playing extremely well until that point.  Hope that he can recover well enough to play his next match.

Fritz has the lead in this match.  He took the first set in a tie break (7-2), and it’s tied at 4 all in the second set.  Fritz had numerous opportunities to break at 3 games all, but after a 14 minute game, Carlos held serve.  Wow!  lol.

Fritz is so hopeless at the net….😂.  Admire his willingness to move forward, and at times he has no choice.  Carlos is in the fight of his life.  Fritz to serve to keep the set alive.

To his credit Fritz played a great match, and really should have got one of those break chances in that second set.  Carlos pulled it out in the 12th game of the second set.  Fritz had been serving so well, and Terence mysteriously got broken in that game….possibly nerves.  Didn’t see that game.

Now, we cannot take Musetti for granted, he is going to come out serving like Goran Ivanisevic and hit all these crazy shots that will make Carlos dizzy.
Maybe the Fritz match is what Carlos needed for his confidence on this indoor surface.

Not sure that I will see that match day after tomorrow. Have an appointment.  Have been indoors since Sunday because it snowed in Fall, and it has been cold since then.  Besides I need to rest more…lol.

Now, Musetti was hitting puff balls yet against Alcaraz he hits del Potro bazookas.

What would you consider as your top 5 takeaways from this interview?

Piers Morgan is nothing but a blow hard!  Meaning he goes wherever the wind takes him.  He seems to spout conservative values, but I’m not really sure.  He is a so called journalist?!?  Was a previous trash daily newspaper editor in Britain, employed by the Daily Sun? or Daily Mail?🤔.

Anyway, Piers is sort of a big deal in the U,K.  He has nose up D?Trumps rear end.  He tried to cross over into the USA around the time of the Apprentice….in fact appeared as a contestant on that show, and has been fawning all over DTrump, since that time…lol.  I CANNOT STAND HIM EITHER. sugar.  However because I have this love/hate relationship with Novak, I started watching the interview.  Will return to it soon, because I like hearing Novak’s opinions on most everything.  He is a very mindful, intelligent guy, although at times he drives me nuts….lol.

He could have skipped the Sinner question, enough has already been said. My guess is he wants that cloud to persist over Sinner's head.
I am an Alcaraz fan, I know Sinner will win more titles than Alcaraz because the guy is a super Robot and will continue to get better, I accept that. No need to keep bringing up the dope thing.

Sugar, I am runing to google to gind Roddick. lol
By the way, have you seen the Celtics guy Jaylen Brown hair line? Here are some article clips, I can't imagine what he was thinking, 🤣
Brown’s hair went viral in the second game of the season when it rubbed off on OG Anunoby’s jersey on a third quarter drive, leaving a big black stain on his white threads. An account with very few followers captured the moment by pointing their phone at their TV, and it immediately went mega-viral. Little did anyone know at the time that this would be the first of many incidents.

Brown’s fake-ass hairline struck again on Wednesday night as the Celtics earned a decisive victory over the Washington Wizards. Brown popped off for 35 points in the win, but that’s secondary to his hairline again rubbing off on another opponent.

This time, breakout forward Kyshawn George was Brown’s victim. The young Wizard he couldn’t believe he had to play the rest of the game with a black streak on his undershirt.

The air and excitement for that match disappeared during the second set.  Zverev was so nervous about losing after dropping the first set, that his play was terrible, and Felix was simply trying not to make mistakes to let Sasha back into the match.  It wasn’t good tennis in the second set, in fact, I switched to another channel.

On another note….what’s up with all these tennis podcasts now?.  The Players box popped up on YouTube a couple of days ago.  It features Keys, Pegula, Brady and a doubles specialist Desirae K?  All American players.  Kinda lame…😂.  I suppose the girls don’t want want to be outdone by those guys…Nothing Major podcast.  Is there room for all if these tennis podcasts to exist and thrive?  🤔

But you are right in that everyone has a podcast now.  However, podcasts need personality.  We shall see if this one thrives in the podcast space.

Btw, I do not understand why everyone seems to label Sinner’s tennis robotic.  With that description one might also call Djokovic robotic actually.   I have also thought his tennis robotic.  Anyway, Sinner actually reminds me of Del Potro with the power, in some ways.  Anyway I love watching Sinner also.  I have always appreciated his tennis, but he has taken it to another level.

This semifinal between FAA and Carlos is much more interesting than the first one between Sinner and DeMinaur.  Although Carlos leads the H2H against Felix, he has previously lost to Felix on indoor hardcourt.  So he’s fighting hard to make sure that he gets the win and meets Sinner tomorrow in the final.  This is the first time that I have watched some of the ATP and WTA finals….ever.

So which Carlos will show up tomorrow. The timid indoor player, or the one who has more talent and game , finished the year like the real number one, or Mr roboto is just too steady?

Missvee I’m sorry but Novak was not robotic but a machine , his movements by far better than sinner, in novaks prime.
Sinner definitely is moving better now especially on that left foot how his slide. But still a robot.

Novak is a better athlete for sure, but his precision did remind me of a robot.  Sinner isn’t as fluid a mover, and Carlos is a better athlete than both of them….even Novak in his prime.  Compared to Roger and Rafa, and Andy M, I think Novak was a bit robotic also.
Anyway, I think Carlos has improved very much on this indoor hardcourt since Paris Masters.  He said today after he beat Felix, that he has learned a lot from Sinner also, when it pertains to being more focused on court.  He is learning how to stay tough, and not have the ups and downs in matches.  It showed today against Felix.

sugar, I don’t have the answer to that one, except the fact that he needs to play them more to figure out exactly what he needs to do now.  Carlos went God mode in that first set yesterday, when I thought Felix had a chance to make it more competitive.
Does Felix need to add more power to his baseline game?  Does he need to mix up his game more than he has already done?  He now has a slice on the backhand.  Don’t know.

Not on indoor hardcourt….yet!  I think it will happen.  Mind you, as Carlos improves, so does Sinner.  The margins are so tight.  Very little separates them in their ability to achieve and maintain this level.

Sinner’s team dissolved into tears, after Jannik fell on his back as Carlos’ final ball sailed out. I have never seen Jannik celebrate a  Championship victory in that manner. This rivalry is so intense, and so tight…Damn!

I think Carlos will continue to lead their H2H as their move on, and primarily because Carlos is the better athlete, with more variety.  However, I think Sinner will continue to improve on his volleys, and I can see him employing the slice as well.  I think he will leave no stone unturned to try and equal/better Carlos on the tennis court.

Well folks, you heard it here first.  Chris Eubanks announced on SERVED today, that he is retiring from tennis, and is stepping into tennis commentary on TV.  At the moment, he is fielding an offer, but I don’t know who has the made the offer.

I really do like him as a colour analyst/TV commentator.  Always have been supportive of that endeavour.  After 2023, he really did not maintain that level.
