Shapovalov is the first man into the second round today, having dispatched an ailing Fucsovic in the first round.  Was a good match until Fucsovic pulled up lame in the 3rd set.

I think my other fave Musetti is still battling GMP and his Huge serve on Louis Armstrong.

Sinner’s match is underway, and he is showing no mercy to his opponent.

Good break for Shapo.

Bublik - Cilic seems to be one sided.

I suppose Bublik has realized that he can play good tennis and stopped the tomfoolery, and has decided that he can contend for big titles now.  However, he will not admit that to anyone.

I thought that Bibi Andreescu was playing at the USO.  I suppose she hasn’t recovered enough to be there.

That's too bad for Bibi, she really can't catch a break.
I saw Mboko had her wrists tightly taped, she needs to take the fall off and let those wrists heal.

I see Bublik and Zverev are in Sinner's half. Maybe they will give him some resistance. Zverev is useless.

I’m fearful of Mboko not allowing her Rt wrist to heal properly, because she and her team want to take advantage of her success in her breakout tournament.  I hope someone is wise enough to encourage her to take time to heal properly.   Heard her in her post match interview speak of being ready for the Asian swing.  We shall see what transpires in the interim.

Mboko only started practicing for the USO a week ago…so last Tuesday.  Not nearly enough time, which tells everyone that she really wasn’t ready to compete seriously.  Hopefully she waits until the Beijing open which is another 1000 Series, and it begins Sept 24th.  A month from now.

The USO just doesn't feel like a slam.  I got that feeling with Venus yesterday and get it with Carlos/Sinner.  Otherwise no.

I am with you Fedex, something is missing.
I hope this guy Coco has added to the team will help her so she can actually start playing clean matches next by the AO.

Sek and Fedex, I’m with you on this one.  Actually yesterday I fell asleep in the afternoon, so that tells me that maybe we have to wait for the weekend and next week to get excited about it.  I was all in at the start yesterday, but today I went out for a few hours…lol.  Started posting on my return home.

Why do you all think this is happening?.  Is it because they are making tournaments too big?  I barely watched Cincy.  Had to give myself  2 weeks off between tournaments.

That's part of it Miss Vee and it just feels too much like a reality show and entertainment, especially the USO

I also think it is because of the players. On the women's side, there is no one to get you excited. The men have their top 2 guys but the rest of the matches are just not exciting.
I thought Ben had turned the corner, then I saw how badly he lost to Zverev in Cincy and was like what is this? No legit player should let Zverev win that easily.
Medvedev has been missing all year. We need something from both tours. We keep hoping and I think by the end of Wimbledon, we give up.
Mboko gave us hope in Canada but she needs to take care of her health.

Now ESPN bringing all these MAGA guys like Isner. 🤮

Sek, and Fedex, I’m definitely feeling the same way also.  I turn away from  ESPN coverage because they are trying to focus on interviews too much.  IMO, it’s okay to have interviews when convenient, but not at the expense of viewers who want to watch live tennis matches.

Plus the reality show vibes that I noticed earlier in the summer, and definitely here at the USO, which they have made into a 3 week extravaganza!   It’s now more than a tennis tournament.  I really don’t know what to say at the moment.

Caro Garcia also played her last match yesterday on a smaller court.  I think ESPN ignored that one.  Petra had more impact on tennis, and I do understand that fact.  However that should have been acknowledged also, unless I missed it during my afternoon siesta 😂!

I spent sometime watching Venus’ post match interview last night.  She had a very poignant moment, in which she admitted to returning to the tour, because she wanted the feeling of playing without any hindrances to her health, i.e, Sdrogens, or uterine fibroids.  She is now free of the latter.  In her words, “ I just wanted to be able to play freely, I just wanted to play free.”  At that point, the host ended the interview.  I felt a tug at my heart strings, knowing how much Venus’ health had impacted her magnificent career.  She could have held almost as many GS titles as Serena.

Sek I was saying the same thing about Maga espn coverage.  yuck.  Miss Vee, when I saw that during Venus' press conference, I totally got the sense she was thinking why couldn't I be relatively healthy like this at 25 as opposed to 45.  For as hard as I have been on her, Venus technically became more sound post-2003.   It was just illness and injuries that made her win less.  healthy Venus post 2003 and we would be talking 18+ majors.
