Here’s to the last WTA 1000 tournament of the season.  Luckily this one will be finished in 7 days.  Sabalenka is back, but she is facing a brutal draw.  Top half is loaded with Osaka, Rybakina, Kalinskaya, Anisimova (although Amanda might be exhausted after winning Beijing).  Raducanu is also in the mix in the top half.

Mboko will be facing Alexandrova tonight.  Hoping that Mboko can get the win, bd has no worries about that right wrist.  Osaka will face Leylah in the first round. Brutal draw for them both.  Andreeva is also in the top half of the draw.

Sorry, I made a mistake in that first post.  Andreeva heads up the top of the bottom half of the draw.  Gauff, Kudermatova, Ostapenko, Bencic, Tauson and Swiatek are the names of interest here.

Precisely Bianca.  I watched her match this morning, and she’s now playing in a wild manner.  I agree with you that she should take the rest of the year off, and rest up.  Let her body and mind heal.  Return refreshed in Australia.

Miss Vee I had a looked  at the match Mboko is playing wild … I hope that child isn’t putting pressure on herself thinking she has to back up that Montreal win. No is expecting that of her she is only 19 just go out there and have fun

Fernandez takes first set. Very well played. Naomi needs to cut down on those errors.

Very true Bianca, this should have been straight sets but Naomi doesn't trust her movement so she ends up going for so much.
On the other hand, Fernandez always goes for the lines but really like in this match, she just needs to move Osaka around, throw in some drop shots and end the point.

Osaka won the second set after I thought Fernandez was going to win the match.  At least Osaka is fighting in these matches.  At times I cannot believe that Fernandez can beat these power players, but it’s because she has the movement aro7nd the court, mixed with variety of shot.

Osaka won the match, and was stronger in the 3rd set.
Raducanu retired in the second set, after losing the first set with a very listless display in her game.  Apparently she is ill….retired down 1-4 in the second set.

Swiatek vs Bouzkova coming up, followed by Andreeva vs Seigemund. The latter defeated Mirra at Wimbledon.  She has a very tricky game, that totally had Mirra gobsmacked, and she lost that match.  Let’s see how she does in this second encounter.

Sek, I feel so badly for Andreescu.  She has entered doubles to get matches in somehow.  Can you imagine having to come through qualifying again, after her success as a teen?  She is always injured, and trying to comeback time after time.  I imagine that she wants to continue the Asian swing,

Seek vets like Laura make me chuckle they always show up to beat the talented youngsters …remember how Michael Russel tortured Donald Young in those challenges and 250 tournaments all those yrs lol …. Or when Sloane first came on tour Mattel-Sands got her a couple until Sloane mastered her…..Apparently Mira broke down and was crying in the match … girl get it together that’s Vera Zvonareva/
Dinara Safina head case ,crash out territory

Omg, I just saw a video clip in which Mirra Andreeva was crying even in the first set when she lost points.  She won the first set in a tiebreak, and Seigemund won the second set.  Mirra kept crying throughout the match….uncontrollably.   This kid needs a sports psychologist soon. Conchita and her Mom cannot handle her emotional instability.    The world around these teens and twenty somethings has become too soft IMO.  Back in the day, my Mom would have said something like…” if you keep on crying, I will really give you something to cry about…lol.”  That meant “lashes” with a small stick or belt….😂😂😂

Naomi needs to stick to one coach and add to her game. Yes, it is the WTA but the game has moved on, these girls are not going to let you get away with just bashing the ball.
I just can't believe the kind of errors she makes. And that Noskova girl is solid, you have to beat her, she won't give you the match.

Okay abasically you are say Naomi needs to go back to Japan , find Mr Miyagi from the karate kid so he can have her do the wax on wax off stuff and I put some variety in her game …… cause these girls don’t  care she was hot in 2020 they are on her neck in 2025
And snatching her wig and edges, until there’s nothing left

New Coco should solve the Jazmine puzzle. I suspect Jazmine's ancestors in Ghana sacrificed some goats for these Coco wins, lol.

Good to see Paolini beat Swiatek finally.  However, I’m with you Sekasi.  I think Iga might be a tad tired.  She might as well shut it down until the WTF.  Sabalenka should get to the final, and probably defend her title in Wuhan.  Doubt Iga can finish the year No 1 this year at this point.  Maybe if she wins the WTF in Saudi.

I don’t want  to see Iga shut it down now Amanda owes her another roll in the hay at the WTA finals for the double bagel in the Wimbledon final … Amanda needs to stay on her neck the way Serena stayed on Sharapova all those yrs never let go lol…always hold that grudge girl

Say whatever you want about Pegula she is in excellent shape and is good at absorbing pace and redirecting the ball…Coco broke the voodoo spell and snatched Jasmine lol ..Coco has something to prove and is on a roll

Could not believe how Sabalenka folded in that third set.  She had to feeling the pressure so badly.  She usually finishes strong.  Anyway, Pegula knows that she can beat Sabalenka, even though the H2H is 8-3 now in Sabalenka’s favour.
So it’s a final between 2 Americans.  May the best player in the day take this title.  Coco wants this title badly, after losing the title in Beijing.

I don't like the Coco-Pegula match up. Pegula plays tough outside majors and knows how to keep the ball in play.
C'mon Coco, clean up.

Woah…what?  4 American women are guaranteed entry into the WTF?😳. That’s amazing.  I didn’t even think about that one.  Coco, Amanda, Madison, and Jessica.  I’m hoping Amanda takes it.  Coco has a lot to prove, because she is defending Champion.  Don’t know if Coco has defended a title yet.  Would have to check.  This should be a great WTF for the WTA.

It seems even though we….mainly Fedex and I, take issue with Gauff’s game, she puts up the wins.  I haven seen video clips of the match yet.  Coco has this dogged determination to win every match, even if her game is atrocious.  However, I have to admire her dogged attitude, because she seems determined to become a better player.  Proof is in her hiring a coach who can help her with the mechanics of serve and forehand.

I wasn't able to watch this match but very impressed with the score line. Pegula always plays Coco tough.
It is good that Coco knows she has to work on ger game, so hoping for a better Coco next season. And i hope she can dominate all season.
Coco is yet to come within reach of being world number 1.
