I know that American commentators have speak about positively about American players.  However, Mary Jo is giving Pegula too much credit in this match.  If Krejikova is ailing, maybe Jessica will take this match.

Pegula vs Krejikova
Alcaraz vs Lehecka

Evening
Sabalenka vs Vondrousova
Djokovic vs Fritz

lol, Miss_Vee with today's WTA Pegula is not that bad. She has maximized whatever money can buy her.
However, she should not be inside the top 10. She only shows up for one major out of the 4.

Operative words today's WTA lol.  Pegula is not better than Meghan Shaughnessey.  No way anyone can convince me of that when looking at both of them play.

Im sorry, but Pegula is so basic.  It’s a compliment to be consistent, but I cannot appreciate her tennis one bit.  Barbora is not the sane player that we saw through the first 4 rounds.  That match against Townsend, after a previous 3 sets in earlier round, has taken its toll.  Doesn’t have enough to get the final.

Pegula is horrid.  Almost Errani-level bad but albeit nothing will ever be that atrocious.  Barbora doesn't have an excuse though.  truly great players overcome this.  Justine-Capriati SF 03 USO and then Justine comes back and wins the final the next day.  Barbora has a day off and can't put up a better performance against Pegula lol

Barbora is one of those players whose fitness is questionable. I don't think she spends much time in the gym.

So many excuses lol Taylor has better conditioning than Barbora 😂 these ladies are like Sek said the other day , pure comedy.thats a reality show I will watch, TT who ate my darn Hershey bar, jelena on the corner with chocolate smeared on her mouth, smiling quietly….sabalenka dancing on top of a table while Victoria azarenka looking and saying if she calls that dancing I should be hoisting a dancing with the stars trophy. Naomi talking to Iga ,I’m still a shy girl in front of the crowd but when I’m in bad I’m an animal….iga  says really? I wish I have that,my partner is so cold ….

Some of these recent players in the commentator box crack me up. James Blake talking about how most of the players now days are afraid to come to the net.
I don't remember Blake visiting the net, like Serena would say, maybe to shake hands.

Barbora Krejikova has to use all of her strength to try to comeback time after time.  Injury after injury.  She is not like Serena or Venus, who can return to the top after a long period of time off the court.  It has to be so frustrating for her, to not have the fitness level, after coming back  in 3 set matches in 2 rounds to arrive at the quarter finals.  In my view, she cannot go the distance to a final…yet.  She was flat against Pegula.  She was initially flat against Townsend as well.  Maybe barring another injury setback, she will do fine in Asia, and the start of next season.

Omg, I knew it!  Vondrousova destroyed her body beating Rybakina on Sunday night.  Why did Rybakina allow her back into the 3rd set?  Maketa has pulled out of tonight’s qrtr final match with a back injury.  Could not get through her practice session this afternoon.  Sabalenka gets a walkover to the SF. Aryna is one lucky girl….lol

These frail Czech girls should just retire from the sport.  They are so talented at tennis, but their bodies don’t hold up under the rigours of this sport.  They always create hope in me because I do like to watch them, when they are healthy and playing well.  However they cannot remain healthy for even 3 to 6 months…at least not recently.

Sab lucked out when Rybakina lost.  That would've been tough for Sab to overcome.  Rybakina suddenly remembers how to play tennis against Sab.

Couple things who is this Pegula girl I see she is top 10 and in a semi can she play or is she a backboard?
This is why I don’t get into these girls the way I used to that girl who went down Pegula saved 8 match points vs Taylor ……yet Tay ate a box of wheaties and got up at midnight to make sure she beat Venus in doubles. Why didn’t she bring that energy in her last match?

Bianca, I cannot agree with you on this one.  Let’s see if he can get past Alcaraz, and I don’t think he will beat Alcaraz this time.  Even if he does beat Carlos, he will be beaten by Sinner.

I hope you guys are correct however my gut is telling me me something else …. Novak has no business making it this far un-challenged this Fritz match is reminding me of how the big 4 used to dismantle the big servers like Isner,Roddick,Karlovic,Anderson,Berdych,Querrey etc

Taylor Fritz is not a great athlete.  While he may have a great serve, and great ground strokes, he is always beaten by the better athlete in these later rounds of GS and Masters tournaments.  Heck, even Shapo blitzed Taylor in February of this year.  Mind you, Shapo has a,ways played Taylor tough. Fritz is unable to maintain this high level facing Novak, or Carlos or Sinner now.

Bianca, Novak has reached the SF of all 4 GS this year, and hasn’t reached a final.  I was hoping that Fritz would win even 1 set.  Not sure that he can win it now.  It’s obvious that Novak decided not to play any lead up tournaments, saving his body for one last push at winning in NYC.

However when he faces off against Carlos expect him to be dragged call over the court by Carlos. If he beats Carlos, he will not have the energy to take on a Jannik Sinner who now does everything slightly better than Novak….even though he has patterned his game style after Novak.  He is the younger, stronger, faster version of Novak.

Omg, what a tedious match.  Love Felix, but the tennis match wasn’t pretty.  He looked so much better against Zverev, and Rublev.  At least he is into the SF again at the USO.  This match took 4 hrs 30 mins.

What a great match from Anisimova.   She held her nerve, and she did to Iga on this hardcourt what Ostapenko does all the time….flattens Iga with her flat penetrating ground strokes, with a great serve.

sugar we are in agreement here with Iga especially.  I have also seen the same with Coco.  These girls are too reliant on their coaches.  I understand now that coaching from players box has always been part of the  sport.  Back in the day I was unaware of it, until uncle Tony was caught constantly coaching Rafa from the box…lol.  However now that it is allowed, these young people don’t know how to problem solve on their own, and don’t have the skill to change their game plan.

Bianca, I think Amanda can do this, but first she has to get through Osaka or Muchova, and then Sabalenka or Pegula.  She can do this, because I can recall when she was 16 years old, how she took out Kvitova in Indian Wells or Miami. So that was 8 years ago.  I expected her to be winning GS even before Gauff,  she is that good.  Her Father/Coach’s death derailed her at age 18 years of age.

Amanda also reached the SF at Roland Garros at age 17 yrs of age, so she has shown promise for years now.  Her ground strokes are so pure, and her serve is just as good as Osaka’s serve.  Osaka moves better, but we shall see what happens if Osaka wins tonight.

Karolina Muchova is one tough cookie.  In fact, most of these Czech women are tough, but frail.  They are always injured, or have had many surgeries, but they keep coming back for more punishment.
