"The Hit" awoke on February 11 TH with yet another day starting with
no further news about the Home Invasion. He started working on the
Onlineglass-com project. "The Hit" knew the Mysterious Financier's
crew got busted. What could he do? He was just happy to be left
alone. He focused on the project after yet another quiet night in the
alley. He adjusted pricing on the auto glass to wholesale prices. He
completely removed the need or references to NAGS numbers even though
he though the Sherman Anti Trust act would take care of that for him
as well. He maintained contact with UDI, Independent Auto Glass, and
the IGA (Independent Glass Association). He promoted the Onlineglass-
com site on the Internet each day. He followed the auto glass
industry forum GlassLinks. Although "The Hit" was destitute by now,
he could see the Internet IPO market building for his project. He
wished his first effort with Broco, Torsten, and Zepplin had worked
out better, however he could see the markets and technology coming to
him. He had predicted this as far back as October 1996 with Jim on
Seymour Street. "The Hit" believed he would find venture capital, and
he thought back to the RCMP officer and the Melfort Drive Inn.

"The Hit" did not know how long it would take for the phone call from
the New Westminster Medical Clinic. He was working on repetitive
database work on the descriptions of the glass in the arrays of his
script. The window next to the computers on the ground floor on the
North side of Garth's house was guarded. Admittedly, it was a
convenient place for Jimmy The Junkie and his Crew to sneak up to the
window. However, they were not so sneaky walking on the 2 cm course
white gravel. The 1 metre border of the house between Garth's
property and the neighbours fence to the North was the guard. The
only way to get close to the window was by the gravel gauntlet.
Given, the conversation with Garth's neighbour in the carport about
guns and murder, "The Hit" was now concerned about just how far Jimmy
The Junkie and his Crew would go for the Mysterious Financier? Could
it still be Jimmy The Junkie trying to cover up ripping off his Crew?
"The Hit" started to listen carefully to everything around him. He
tried to listen carefully to his surroundings. He was starting to
become what he was going to be shortly. "The Hit" worked through
October 16 TH with no phone call from the clinic.

The next morning on February 14 TH "The Hit" thought back to the trip
to Lloydminster while he booted his computers with more hope for the
project than ever. Don and "The Hit" left the shores of Big Shell
Lake heading west on the #3 Highway through Mildred, Spiritwood, and
Glaslyn. The Terex tire was 1,133 kilograms making the trip very hard
on the Chevy 1/2 Ton, and Don and "The Hit" took it slow in respect
for his personal truck. They took it slow through Livelong,
Turtleford, Spruce Lake, and St Walburg before they were to drop the
tire off on the west side of Paradise Hill. They were just passed
FrenchMan Butte when they crossed the Yellowstone River when they saw
death. A car in front of them went head on into another car on hill
rising up on the west side of the river. The impact likely meant the
end of the trip for the occupants on the historic trip along the 2000
kilometre trail from Winnipeg to Edmonton. Don told "The Hit" to stay
inside, and he put his road construction expertise to work. He had
flairs out, and he was directing traffic in minutes. He turned
someone to a farmers house to call for the police and ambulance. He
sent flag men in both directions due the location close to the bottom
of both hills and the approach of the bridge. He knew what he was
doing. He came back to the truck to let "The Hit" know he had a ride
for him heading the rest of the way into Lloydminster. "The Hit"
asked Don if they were going to make it. It was more of an answer
than the young hit was expecting. It was maybe "one".

In Lethbridge in the spring the gulley climb back and forth to work
and school killed the Volkswagons engine. It was not worth fixing,
and "The Hit" phoned Leo in Humboldt to see if his new bike was
ready. Fortunately, the RD 400 was ready, and Leo went out of his way
to deliver the bike. He sent the YZ back to Saskatchewan with Leo.
The RD 400 cost "The Hit" $1700.00 dollars, and he rode to school is
style to the final exams at Winston and the Woodward's Gas Bar. He
finished school in 1978 with an 82 % average with what was known then
as full matriculation. He skipped the graduation proceeding, as he
had skipped his grade 12 in school. "The Hit" gave his notice at the
Woodward's Gas Bar, and he sent his final marks to the University of
Saskatchewan. He bought a pup tent, and he decided to go to Edmonton
for the summer. The Commenwealth Games were coming to Edmonton, and
he thought that would be a good place to work until he started
University in the fall. He said goodbye to his mother and Harvey. He
got on his bike, and he left for Edmonton for the summer. St. Brieux,
Humboldt, Watrous, Ear Falls, Oxdrift, Shaunavon, Lloydminster,
Claresholm, Lethbridge, and he ended Harvey's run from the twins. He
would add Edmonton on his own.

"The Hit" got that sick feeling in his stomach, and it was not from
the Hepatitis C this time. Could it be that Jimmy The Junkie, his
Crew, and the Mysterious Financier were working late again tonight?
It could have been Jimmy The Junkie laughing again as they scuttled
around the mailbox? "The Hit" wondered whether Canada Post was going
to get this letter delivered to Crime Stoppers? He really should go
out and check the mailbox. He put on his jacket, and then he decided
not to go out and check the mailbox that night. "The Hit" decided he
was just being paranoid about the noise which sounded like a mailbox
beating the curb. Yet, he should check out the noise. Maybe someone
was hurt? But, there would have been sirens after the accident. "The
Hit" procrastinated, as he decided to check out the Canada Post
mailbox the next day. That was some loud bump in the night though!
"The Hit" fell back into the security of the Onlineglass-com software
project. Yet, he knew the mouse had the bait!

Guns and Murder

In Saskatoon during January of 1979, "The Hit's" mother had second
thoughts about leaving Harvey. "The Hit" drove his mother to
Lethbridge in Leo's Ford 1/2 Ton Truck. They left Saskatoon on Friday
after "The Hit" finished classes at the University of Saskatchewan.
"The Hit" drove all night to Lethbridge so his mother could meet
Harvey at a motel in Lethbridge. They had their meeting, and "The
Hit" drove back to Saskatoon to arrive back at the apartment on
Sunday. She decided to give it another try in Lethbridge with Harvey,
and she took the bus back to Lethbridge to join Harvey's Run once
again. "The Hit" gave notice on the apartment on February 1 ST, and
he found a room downstairs in a house on University Drive which he
could afford. He caught a ride to Ridgedale with Kerry, and borrowed
the Econoline Van to make his move out of the apartment at the end of
February. "The Hit" moved everything out of the apartment alone, and
he packed what he could in his room downstairs. He left the rest in
the Econoline Van while he walked to University during his second term
from University Drive to the University of Saskatchewan. He would not
meet the Gang from Clavet for some time yet.

The plane departed Vancouver International Airport on the 6 of
November at 07:45, and the routine flight time of 3hours brought "The
Hit" into his approach to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in
Phoenix. The Canadian Airlines flight docked at 11:45 local time in
Phoenix. Phoenix Sky Harbor International is huge American Hub
airport, and "The Hit" paused to let the Canadian Airlines passengers
on his plane move ahead of him after exiting the plane at the gates in
Terminal 2. Once the Canadian Airlines passengers were ahead of him,
"The Hit" worked his way past the gates onto the corridor heading to
Terminal 4 at the other end of the airport. He took the Skywalk over
East Sky Harbor Boulevard to Terminal 3 pulling his luggage. "The
Hit" was aware of the lighter clothing and darker tans of the
Americans, and he did not notice any of the original passengers of the
Canadian Airlines flight as he worked his way through Terminal 3 past
the Control Tower.

They drove northeast on E Passyunk Avenue before turning right on
Washington Avenue. They turned left at S Columbus Boulevard onto the
ramp to I-676 before merging onto the I-95 North for 20 km. They
exited on Woodhaven Road before merging onto PA-63 W / Woodhaven Road
W before taking the Franklin Mills Boulevard / Millbrook Road exit to
Franklin Mills Boulevard. They talked about Onlineglass-com, and the
Sherman Anti Trust problems NAGS was facing. Bill compared it to the
Tool & Die decision of years past. He expected the NAGS part numbers
to become public domain eventually. Bill also felt that the IGA was
possibly the best way to approach the industry in the United States.
Finally, they turned left on Liberty Bell Boulevard to find parking
close to the Liberty Bell. "The Hit" learnt a lot about the Liberty
Bell, and Bill brought him up to speed on The First Continental
Congress.

Revolution

Like any disease, the meddling in Vietnam which began in 1955
(possibly 1947)continued to fester, and the number of troops in
Vietnam with stars and strips in their eyes continued to increase in
numbers. "The Hit" could see a direct relationship between the need
for American troops and the hate of the American occupation. The
Americans called anyone who challenged them either Communists or
Terrorists. In 1959-1960 The Caribbean Second Marine Ground Task
Force was deployed to protect US nationals (military and civilians)
following the Cuban Revolution. In Thailand in 1962 the The Third
Marine Expeditionary Unit landed on May 17, 1962 to make sure the
local population didn't have a political choice towards Communism.
Political discussions were completed when the Americans withdrew by
July 30 1962 when 5,000 marines had finished discussing political
science. Since most Communists were getting attacked by the
Americans, the Cubans worked out their strategic defence with the
Russians. Cuban self defence caused the Cuban Missile Crisis on
October 22,1962 as detent was tested. President Kennedy instituted a
"quarantine" on Cuba from the Soviet Union. Kennedy warned the Soviet
Union that Cuba's self defence with nuclear missiles would lead to an
American nuclear retaliation on the Soviet Union. "The Hit" mused
that American Revolutionary War was great for the Americans, but the
Cuban Revolution was obviously bad for the Cubans. Was there such a
thing as tripartite detent?
