event with set number laps and unknow number

Hi,

I usually set all this up using lap race but know that 90% of my division are actually segment races.  What is best practice?  I want to use RSU notifications but those do not work with the lap race.  Should I create two races... one with segment events and one for the event that is a lap setup?  

Also, trying to set up RR chip timing to be live via Race Director and RSU.  Anything or links that might help this set up for a 1st timer?

I time a few OCR's where many of them have an "Unlimited Laps" division. I set up two races in RD. One for the regular race and all its divisions and one for the UL. Everyone not signed up for UL is in a single division and I don't show that division in the lap results.
