"RED FLAG"

So, I timed a 1st year event, and found out never discussed desires from the race director as things unfolded.  One that I don't think I have a solution for is as follows:  This is race where they can 'red flag' the course where all racers stop.  They do something like this in nascar but they are racing a lap total and lap times essentially don't matter.  This is a relay where we would like to have each racers splits.  Is there a way to "stop" the time during a "red flag"?  We are chip timing with race result, so I don't think there is a way to "pause" the time.  

Any ideas would be awesome.  Note that these racers would stop in place until the race resumed.
