Hi Pipits!

I've got a few more events to publish to the website, but I wanted to draw your attention to two events.

On Sunday July 5 there is a trip to Grimsby Wetlands featuring Bruce MacKenzie, who is responsible along with Laurie, for the incredible success this rehabilitation project has shown. Please consider joining us.

There are always amazing birds to be found here at the Wetlands.

The other trip I wanted to bring to your attention, is the Fall Algonquin Park trip. It takes place on Sunday Sept 6, and if you are joining us, and planning to stay in the area, now is the time to book accommodations. Things fill up quickly, and fall is a high demand time due to the changing of the leaf colours.

Thanks everyone,

Colleen

Hello Pipits!

I've added several new trips to the website: https://www.thepipits.com/trips-and-events

There are a few long distance trips you might want to join, that might call for overnight stays in local places.
At the end of August I will have a trip to Ottawa, led by Jeff Skevington. This will be a collaborative trip with OFO.
And in October there will be a trip to Presqu'ile Provincial Park, led by Andrea Kingsley. This may also be a collaborative OFO trip.
Hope to see you on these trips, the co-leaders are very strong naturalists, extremely knowledgeable, fun, and both sit with me on the OFO Board.

Also, I'd like to share an advance head's up to announce a new initiative I'm starting, called Bird's Eye View (BEV).
This company will be providing services to neurodivergent folks, and people interested in learning more about neurodivergence, specifically Autism and ADHD.
One of the programs BEV will provide is Divergent Pathways.
This is a nature-based walking series, incorporating birding and other aspects of nature, along with some facilitated discussion about what it means to live a neurodivergent life.
Divergent Pathways will include the opportunity to meet others while being focused on a shared interest in nature.
Folks might be inspired to speak about their internal experiences, and will have the chance to learn about the different strengths and aspects that are commonly noted in Autistic and ADHD lives.
We will explore some strategies to help with various facets of Autism and ADHD, through nature inspired grounding and nervous system regulating techniques found and practiced while in the wild places.
Note that a website is in the works that will provide more information about the programs, and a schedule of activities.

For now, I wanted to let you know that I hope to offer a pilot walk in the Ottawa area, location to be determined, on Saturday August 29.
My hope is to make this a collaborative walk between BEV Divergent Pathways and OFO.

Please let me know if you are interested in joining this walk, no diagnosis is required, just an open curious spirit and mind!

And stay tuned for further information as Bird's Eye View and Divergent Pathways are built!
