Good morning Pipits!

We had a lovely walk yesterday at Bronte Creek PP. It was so good to see everyone, and get caught up on people's stories! You're just the best and I really appreciate your company every single time we get together.

We had a great walk to the edge of the creek canyon and along through the forest.
It was very quiet birdwise, but we did manage to see 15 species in total. Thank goodness for the park's feeders.

Thank you everyone for coming out.

Here's the link to our eBird list, https://ebird.org/checklist/S294963572
I've shared it with a number of the folks who attended the walk. If you haven't received it and you'd like it, please send me an email.

I accidentally also shared a checklist from Rattlesnake Point, please ignore that one.

Here is a link to the Google photo album from the outing, you are welcome to download the photos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/yp1mh9VfmRp25xc67

I did end up heading there before I headed back up to Severn. There were several people there looking for the Townsend Solitaire. A couple of the guys walked on a treacherous trail down from the Pinnacle stairs, and around the edge of the cliff face. I did not attempt that trip - with my balance and my fear of heights, it was too intimidating. They did manage to find the bird, around the cliff face where I couldn't see it. After they returned to the stairs, and all the people left, I sat myself down on the bottom stair and waited, enjoying the silence and the beauty of that location. It was very peaceful.

After some time it began to get a bit chilly, and I stood up and prepared to leave. And noticed a single bird with a longish tail sitting quietly above me. It did not behave like a chickadee or a kinglet, and it was larger. That lovely Townsend Solitaire had come to me! I was able to get some photos of it from underneath - not remarkable shots - and then caught it as it flew off into the forest.

I followed up the stairs, and went over to the lookout wall thinking it might have gone there, as the guys had seen it from below the cliff at around that spot.

It was waiting for me there, at eye level, on a branch leaning out over the drop. It was just the bird and myself, in the silence, not minding each other's company. I took too many photos, and as I turned to leave, it disappeared. What an experience!

I even got a few cell phone shots of the bird, I was that close!

I heard a few people on the walk talking about wanting some Pipits merch (tshirts)... I wanted to remind folks these are available through Paul Riss's PRBY redbubble store, available through link from my website: https://www.thepipits.com/merchandise

I have put a bunch of new outings up on the website so take a look, hope to see you soon!

Have a great week everyone!
