Hi Pipits!

My apologies for missing out on the virtual walks over the last few weeks but soon enough everything will be back to the status quo and I will return to the meetings. In the meantime, I had a great outing at my local little spot of heaven, Selkirk Provincial Park. For those who aren't aware I actually grew right down the road from the park and used to work there during the summers. Basically, this was where I started birding. With that being said I know that park better than anyone and know exactly what birds to expect and even yesterday surprised me a little bit!

Let's start by me saying I had my first 50 species count of the year (53) and 7 of which were sparrows (Song, Swamp, Vesper, Savannah, Chipping, Field, White-throated)! I also had 30+ Rusty Blackbirds along the lake which is a personal high count for that park! To top it off I saw the park's 2nd record (I also have the 1st) of Great Egret!
