markc...@live.caGeorgian Bay Tours will take us south through the 30 000 Islands. This is the worlds largest freshwater Archipelago.
Wreck Island is part of the Massassauga Provincial Park. On Wreck Island there are vault toilets and picnic areas. Please bring your own lunch, water and snacks. We will plan on having a lunch break while on Wreck Island.
Wreck Island is well known for its interesting geology. As we tour the island we will learn a lot about such geology. The Island is also a good place to see such endemic species such as Eastern Fox Snake and Eastern Massassauga Rattlesnake. If we are fortunate we will get the opportunity to see these snakes and get some good photos as well. The Island is also a great place to see the Prairie Warbler.
What Wreck Island is most famous for though is the shipwreck of the Waubuno. We will cruise close by and if Georgian Bay isn't to rough we will see the Waubuno in the clear blue waters. The Waubuno was a ship that traveled between Collingwood and Parry Sound. It crashed in 1879 and still remains off the shores of Wreck Island.
Cruising the Georgian Bay Islands are very popular events for Into the Wild. Viewing the 30 000 Islands and the wind swept pines makes for a great day. This event will sell out early so if interested please email me,
