The Pipits: Sudden Tract, Cambridge 2026

Apr 19, 2026 | 8:00 AM

Sudden Tract CA, Cambridge ON

Sudden Tract is a beautiful walk through a forest and a wetland. We should see lots of spring ephemerals as well as spring migrant songbirds.

Afterwards we will have a quick stop at the Horak's home to use their washroom, and check out their feeders and pond.

Next I thought folks might like to join us to have lunch at Cobblestone Public House, in Paris. I'll try to reserve the room overlooking the river for our group!

Hi Colleen.

My phone is having trouble with the Wix app, so I am RSVP-ing to you here, I plan to join you at the Sudden Tract.
Where is the meeting place?

Also, what date is your Carden Alvar trip?

Thanks,
Susan

I believe the software I use for my website has decided to link folks to the "spaces app" to register, rather than taking you to the website via the <RSVP> button.
I will try to correct this.
In the meantime, you can register directly by going to the website...
This Sunday we will be going to search for wildflowers and spring migrant birds!
We will meet in the Spragues Road parking lot: https://goo.gl/maps/4XbUEWGBGx5ij87L8
We will meet at 8am.

Carden Alvar is June 7th, starting at 5:30amCheck the website for more details, and to see where the meeting location is for a later start if 5:30 is not manageable for you (it will be worth it, if its decent weather). This is a joint Pipit/OFO trip, should be a good one!

Hi Colleen,

How are you? We had talked a while ago about me joining you for the Sudden Tract outing on Sunday and possibly checking out some other areas around there. Do you still want to do that? If your itinerary is set, no problem. It sounds full but if you want to go to Grass Lake to see meadowlarks and other grassland birds and possibly FWR Dickson they are both fairly close to Sudden Tract.

I can’t make it for this trip as I’m already booked for birding with my young grandaughter at RBG that day.
I do hope to meet up with your group for birding soon.
All the best,
Beth

The Pipits: Sudden Tract, Cambridge 2026

This is a reminder about the Sudden Tract outing this Sunday morning. We will also be going to the Horak's home for a washroom break and to check out the birds on their property. And to Grass Lake for grassland birds.

Bring WATERPROOF boots, the trails are very muddy at Sudden Tract, and there are a few fallen trees to clamber over/around.

It's going to be a fun one, looking forward to seeing everyone.

1pm lunch at Cobblestone in Paris.

Always happy to hear where the group is going... Sorry that I find myself unable to pull myself out of bed that early to join you!

My daughter sent me the link to this 2 hour movie which I've watched twice and laughed out loud many times. In case you haven't heard of it, I thought you all might enjoy it!

Happy birding!
Nancy

Thanks Colleen. I definitely plan to go on some of your outings soon.
Have fun. It is so warm and beautiful here right now. It should be great for birding.

Hi Colleen,
I’ve decided not to join the group at Sudden Tract tomorrow morning.
Hope those more intrepid than I, who brave the muck and potential snow, have good birding.
Enjoy the group lunch and hope to join in on the next opportunity.
