Today's the day!

I'm doing a presentation for OFO at 7pm tonight, about our trip to Churchill last summer.

Today will be Part One of two, the second half will occur Feb 4 2026.
Everyone is welcome...
If you can't attend, I believe the meeting will be recorded and available through OFO's YouTube channel.

Good morning Pipits!

I wanted to thank those of you who attended last night, what a boost it was to have you there! You are just the best!

Here's a link to the Youtube video of the talk, for those interested.

Part two will occur on Feb 4 2026, 7pm. I'll send a link to that when it is available.

I loved this line: Be like nature in the Churchill area, and as Winston Churchill said, "Never give in."
You folks have helped me get through some very difficult times, and I have such wonderful times with your support. Thank you so much.

Just watched the YouTube video  of your Churchill trip - excellent photos, especially all the wild flowers - spectacular.
Thanks,

Cheers

We really enjoyed it Colleen - beautiful photos!

Btw, you asked for a plant ID at around 34:10 (I went back and checked:), which I recognized as the shrub Buffaloberry (Shepherdia canadensis), but was confused by the flowers, which were wrong for Buffaloberry. When I relooked at the photo, the flowers are growing up through the shrub and don't belong to it, which solved the mystery for me. If you have a closer photo of the flowers send them along and I'll see I can provide an ID for them.

Cheers, Bill

Hi Bill,

Many thanks. Here's a close up shot of my computer screen, I had one other shot of this plant from a different day, different location.

In this shot the plant is growing in a rock crevice.

I believe it is Rock Whitlow-grass.

What do you think?

I think you're right Colleen! I can see the Mustard characteristics in this picture much better. Pretty little creature, probably nestled comfortably under a bed of snow right now patiently waiting for Spring:).

Cheers, Bill

Here's the plant in it's home. Not sure this will go through, apparently the photo is too large for the system to allow through but I'll try sending directly through the Google Group here.

Yes, I could see the mustard look as well!
I'm sure the conditions right now are fairly brisk, I wonder how protected this spot would be by snow... I feel like it will be windswept. I think this is a tough plant.
