dear friends,
 
please join us in celebrating earth day 2009 on wednesday, april 22, at the Music Hall, SM Mall of Asia. The program will start at 1pm and will feature:  
 
1)  the state of the Phil environment report by sec Atienza
2) the signing of a MOA among 4 LGUs in MM and DENR for wastewater treatment as part of the efforts to clean the pasig river
3) signing of the Mao between gawad kalinga and sShell for the Green kalinga program (the greening of GK communities)
4) story telling on The Basura Monster by Tin Tin Berzola, and Ang Mga kaibigan ng Kagubatan by Rica Paralejo
5) Song and dance about the ozone layer led by the mascot Ozzy Ozone
6) award of the Green Choice ecolabel to Veridium
7) launch of the Gawad L.A.H.A.T. where earth friendly initatives (not persons or groups) will be recognized
8) launch of the Youth Envi Advocates Network
 
The program will end with the official opening of the Kids Environment Fair which will run from 2-5pm. see write up below.
 

Kids take center stage at this year’s celebration of the Earth Day main event at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA), which is a partnership program of the DENR, Earth Day Network, the SM Super malls and the SM MOA.

 

The Kids’ Environmental Fair will be a festival of exhibits, displays, games, interactive, fun-giving, exciting and educational activities for children on various aspects of environmental management.

 

Participating exhibitors with kid-friendly stations are DENR’s various offices such as the EMB’s Environmental Education and Information Division, Philippine Ozone Desk, National Solid Waste Management Commission Secretariat; Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau; River Basin Control Office; Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission; National Mapping and Resource Information Authority; Haribon Foundation; Sustainable Energy Development Programme of the USAID; Jollibee; and Rest-Toe-Run.

 

There shall be story-telling sessions on garbage management, ozone layer, and forest conservation. There shall be recycling corners,origami sessions, mascots on waste buster, ninja switch (on energy conservation), water warrior,  Ozzy Ozone, and Jollibee. There shall be snakes and ladders game on ozone layer protection. There shall be puzzle-making, drawing contest, film showing of kid-friendly films and music. Kids will move from station to station, and will receive prizes and loot bags at the end.
