Dear All:

We are striking while the iron is hot.

Due to the growing demand from the regions, we are expanding the reach of the People’s Summit by bringing TPI on the road. We will be presenting TPI to eight (8) regional clusters covering the entire country, instead of one big event as originally planned.. This will allow us to focus on each cluster’s need and the specific actions needed to address the specific climate change impacts to their respective areas.   The level of participation will be greatly enhanced since we expect the participants to have greater ownership of their local problem and local solutions.

This new strategy will stretch our limited funds.  We hope to mobilize additional support from the various regional development councils (RDC), the local governments, local business and NGO partners as well as other development partners.

The first of the eight will be One Visayan Climate Change Summit led by the RDCs of Regions 6, 7 and 8.  This will be held on May 11-12, 2009, in Cebu City.  This will be followed by the Urban Summit, concentrating on the climate change effects on Metro Manila. This will happen on June which is Environment Month. From there we will continue with the Business Summit. The rest of the regional summits will happen throughout the year.

We are currently working on preparations for the Experts’ Council on April 24 to be held at the Ateneo School of Government, Rockwell, Makati City, from 9AM till 5PM. Feel free to visit. You may contact Pam Pascual at 0918-4425139 or events.pam...@yahoo.com to confirm your attendance.

We appreciate your continued support and participation to the cause. Should you want to contribute as a sponsor (monetary, venue, &/or manpower), submit additional information/studies, provide media mileage, and the like, kindly contact Pam Pascual.
