to The People of Abraham,
Question; Who was Gilgamesh and what, if any role does Gilgamesh play
in particularly in Christian and/or Judism.
Answer Gilgamesh was a Babylonian character of the legend of
Gilgamesh. A babylonian legend of the flood recounted in Genesis It
is speculated by cuneiform clay tablets thathave been fpound and
translated, this story predates the account in Genesis and that the
early writers of the Bible may have been inspired by it.
The religious impact of course is profound i on understanding of a
"worldwide flood" as opposed to the possibility that the destructioin
of the land bridge in 5500 B.C.E. which caused the flooding of the
Black Sea to a depth of 550 to fifteen hundred feet in some places
joining it with the mediteranean at the Straight of the Bosphorous. Is
what is actually being recounted in both these legends. The only
caveat to keep in mind is that ALL, world cultures from time out of
mind have a flood legend, ALL cultures!! Mayam, Incan, North American
Native, African native All, world wide . Just some thing to think
about.
Obviously the impact on Judism Christianity and Islam is and has been
profound!!
