This came in this morning with more information. The other day I rec'd
a first point of correction from this poster and wanted to add this
one as sent. I encapsulated the info in the other one because of the
policy of NOT giving personal info Ever with out permission. As you
will see he makes mention that this might be his response. Still
adhering to policy I will use his first name only this is to provide
that privacy rule we have here. This guy does know of that which he
speaks that is why I put in what I did the other day. I would also
invite him to join our group!!!
We can always use more brains....I am living proof!! So, here for you

That sounds like my commentary.

Rev. Bruce:
If you're referring to my commentary,
I never said that
"Ballard did not find a piece of Noah's boat".
I said that Ballard did not find a building;
I indicated that he probably found a ship.

It is in error.
Mollusk shell remains from various depths
were dated by Ryan and Pitman to various ages,
some of them clustering around about 7500 years ago,
but they were not associated with shoreline features.
What was significant about them was that they were of
saltwater species, which seemingly first appeared
after other fresh- or brackish-water species had disappeared.
That replacement of fresher-water by saltier-water species, and
the clustering of three of the oldest examples
at around 7500 years ago at different depths,
was taken by Ryan and Pitman as indications
that salt water had suddenly entered the Black Sea basin and
rapidly raised its level.
Ryan now accepts the evidence that contradicts that interpretation
and now says that the appearance of those saltwater mollusks
represesents "a salinity change"; i.e., they are an indication that
water deep down in the Black Sea became saltier at about that time,
rather than an indication of Black Sea level.
Instead, Ryan shows that nothing significant happened
to Black Sea level after about 9000 years ago
(or maybe after 8200 years ago).
In any case, the information used in the History Channel show
is a decade out-of-date, and can be safely ignored.
