While you still have wait to get a Passage book, I (Sean) am happy to announce:
Yes, and...
Livre de Urban Improvisation

Upon wrapping up the weekly
[Workshop for] Urban Improvisation (OUI) rides, I decided that I wanted to collect together and archive the materials generated for/by it. Sure, we all have our digital memories, but sometimes it is nice to have a thing on the shelf. And, unlike The Passage, I realized that such materials were of a modest enough scale that I could simply ("simply") package it
all up into a book, with little ("little") editing necessary. And I figure a few people out there might be interested in it too.
So that is what this is: all the flyers, all the route maps, all the ride reports, and all the photos from #1–50 of the weekly exploratory bike ride — plus a selection of inspiration/source imagery and a "confession" detailing some of the thoughts that went into and came out of it. The late nights, the broken French, the oblique literary references, the holes in fences. Yes, all the layered, dense, confounding, circuitous images and text, reflecting the complexity and contradictions of the city itself.

More info:
Price — Yes, unfortunately, this is not cheap. More fancy-art-book-price than I would like. But that is what happens when one on-demand prints a book of this size. Indeed, the price listed above is a special pre-sale rate, taking advantage of an expected Black Friday printing discount. This is about as lean as I can make it. After Thanksgiving, the price will go up.
Shipping — Price does include shipping within the continental U.S. (but not tax). For overseas shipping arrangements, please contact me before ordering (either reply to this message or
here).
Pre-sale — Again, to be clear, this is a pre-sale, lasting approx. one week. On Black Friday (11/29), I will make the order. I hope to be able to get books into your hands by end of year — but no promises!
Digital version — Once I have 100% finished editing the book's text, I will also make a PDF version available (free of charge) on the Urban Improvisation ride website, if you just want to look at/read it. I expect to have that by early next week.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks,
Sean
