HUXLEY-VINCENT POP MACHINE BACK IN ACTION
Those of you who've liked my past work with Kyle Vincent ("Wake Me
Up" "I Miss Arrianne" "Invisible Man" etc) will be happy to
know there's more in the pipeline. Kyle and I've written about
eight songs together since last Fall and have begun recording with
Gordon Townsend on drums and Kyle and myself doing everything else.
We're excited about this new stuff and feel it's some of the best
material we've ever written. It's,how shall we say, a potent blend
of Kyle's heartfelt (SAPPY!) piano-based pop and my (insert
catchphrase) guitar based rock. Titles include "Emily Standing",
"The Lucky One" and "Dirty Girl."
Hooking up with Kyle has been one of the immediate benefits of my
relocation to the East Coast this past year. Kyle moved to
Massachusetts from California a few years ago. Although he's a
Berkeley CA native, he lived in Amherst for a year as a kid and vowed
one day to return. So he did. We've made three or four writing
trips to each other's abodes and we've had great success writing
together. The hard part will be coming up with a name for our duo.
We've rejected at least fifty bad names (from Kyle) and probably as
many REALLY GREAT ONES from me. But I'm willing to wait until
we're both happy.

GIGSVILLE!
The Orchestra, or Former Members of ELO Part II, or whatever we're
called, will be glued to the road in 2006.
We'll be visiting Spain in February for shows in Valencia, Madrid,
Barcelona, San Sebastian and Castellon. We expect to visit Denmark in
April and May, and then we'll present 22 shows in the UK during May
and June.
In August, we'll perform two shows with the Grand Rapids Symphony.
Russia, South America and Central America may also be in the mix at
some point.
We're very excited to be returning to the UK and tickets are
apparently selling well, so it seems to be mutual! We haven't done a
proper tour there since 1999. Our 2001 tour with the Royal
Philharmonic was only for five cities.
We're currently revamping the set list, taking a few things away and
adding some surprises. Since his vocal debut on my Homemade Spaceship
album, fans certainly have to wonder: Will Mik sing onstage?

GUATAMANIA!
The Orchestra played El Salvador and Guatamala in December and both
shows were great. The weather was warm and so were the
crowds...rabidly supportive and on their feet from the start. After
the show in Guatamala City, we stopped to sign a few autographs on the
way back to the hotel. Soon the crowd swelled and a cheek-kissing
lovefest broke out. I'm a fuzzy photo on at least fifty cell phones
down there. We loved it.
Central America is surprisingly local--only three to four hours from
the States and in the same time zones. It feels good to get to know
our neighbors a little bit. Our promoter in El Salvador told me the
story of his family's emigration from Palestine to the West. His
grandfather was aboard a boat heading for Columbia in search of a
better life. The boat broke down in El Salvador and needed six months
of repairs. By the time the boat was ready to leave, his grandfather
was already well into a successful business. So the family stayed put.
Nearly a hundred years later... rock and roll!
