The P. Hux Chronicles Issue Number ONE

IN THIS ISSUE:
* No Thanks to AOL
* Thanks to everyone for your support
* New P. Hux albums

Dear Whom?
What should I call everyone who's signed up for the P. Hux Mailing
List over the last couple years and never, ever heard from me? Beloved
Strangers? The Faithful Ignored? Angry Villagers with Digital
Pitchforks? I'll work on something catchy.

Sorry for the silence.

So, what took so long? Well, one reason The P. Hux Mailing List never
got mailed was this: every time I sent a message to more than twenty
addresses, AOL shut me down. I guess I was overloading their system.
God forbid I was soliciting or spamming.

Thus, the P. Hux Chronicles via Google Groups is my attempt to be
communicative. If this Google thing works out, they are to be
congratulated for making it so easy. Wheee.

First of all thanks to everyone for supporting P. Hux in 2005 by
purchasing cds and T-shirts. We really appreciate it and hope that the
music has brought you blissful moments of sonic transport. Homemade
Spaceship was a favorite this year, but orders for the entire catalogue
have been terrific. In this age of "free" music and everything
downloadable, we're grateful for the continued support.

We love hearing from you, too. It's always surprising to learn how
far flung are the P. Hux faithful: South America, UK, Japan, Europe,
and all over the US. Amazing. Please feel free to write us at
Hux...@aol.com to share your thoughts on music. That's what we're
all about.

NOTE: When I say "we" is there really a "we"? Well, yeah.
Lynn Hoskins is the webmistress for www.parthenonhuxley.com
(www.p-hux.com gets you to the same place by the way) and she is
instrumental in getting things to show up on the site and actually work
like they're supposed to. Yay, Lynn. She's a great conduit for
all things pop and rock, too.

WHERE IS THE NEW P. HUX ALBUM, Everything's Different Now?
Good question! It's been finished for quite some time now and it IS
slightly driving me crazy that it hasn't yet been released. The
short story: I've been vacillating between putting it out myself or
finding a deal for it. I'm currently talking to a label or two. If
it works out with one of them, I'll be really pleased to have a
partner in manufacturing and promotion, etc. I don't mind acting as
a label, but I prefer working with like minded people who love music.
Its day will come, I promise.

But in the meantime, I'm incredibly happy to announce the release
of...

...P. HUX/MILE HIGH FAN--LA Recordings 1988-1993 on Nine18/NotLame, due
out in February. Mile High Fan is a collection of fifteen master
recordings left in the MCA vaults after I finished my publishing
contract with them in 1993. This is the album I should've put out
after Sunny Nights, but didn't for various reasons. Everything is
explained in the liner notes!

Most of the tracks were recorded with my band at the time: Rusty
Anderson (now in McCartney's band) on guitar, Jen Condos (Henley,
Zevon, etc) on bass and Rob Ladd (Daltrey, many others) on drums. One
bonus track features Jason Falkner on guitars, bass and vocals. Robin
Lane contributes background vocals.

I'm really happy that these songs are finally being released.
They're quite different from the stuff on Deluxe and Purgatory Falls.
I was simply a different writer and singer back then...for better or
worse! Rusty's guitar playing is pretty fantastic. I think Mile
High Fan contains some of the best stuff he's ever done. His profile
is deservedly high now that he's Paul McCartney's guitarist and no
one is happier for Rusty than me. But...you don't hear the real
Rusty in the McCartney show. That's Paul's music and Paul's the
boss (as a Beatle should be). On Mile High Fan, Rusty has a LOT of
room to play. I was essentially a rhythm guitarist in my old band
because Rusty added so much color. The parts he created are absolutely
breathtaking. Guaranteed.

Rob and Jen are pretty kickass, too.

The singer with the funny name and long hair on one side of his head?
He was alright I guess.

Many thanks to Bruce Brodeen at NotLame for his enthusiasm and support
of Mile High Fan. You can Pre-Order Mile High Fan at
http://www.notlame.com/Pre-Orders/P._Hux/Page_1/NLHUX1.html

Or, you can get Mile High Fan as soon as it's released at

Until next time,

all the best,

P. Hux
