Hello Brethren and Friends,
I would argue that belief and faith are very, very different. I know
that the two are often intertwined but I also believe that this is a a
profane failing.

Belief as I stated before is associated with fact. I believe my Honda
is orange. I believe my dog Mihoshi is Japanese Akita. I believe that
my Panasonic Viera is a plasma TV. On and on it goes.
Belief is rational, steady and it holds up to scrutiny.

Faith is a registered hope or guess. I have faith that Frank will pay
me for the work that I did for him. I have faith that my landlord will
not raise my rent. I have faith that my caniddate will show up on time
to the interview.

Faith is not the refuge of an enlightened mind. Faith while a comfort
is a failing when relied upon.
Just like eating a pint of Ben and Jerry's may be comforting, it will
make you fat and sick over the long haul. Too much faith and reliance
on faith will make you emotionally bankrupt and it may well in fact
kill you.

Faith is like a drug in that it is addicting but it is best used in
moderation.

In short, the two are very different they are often confused. I
believe that a lot of time this is on purpose. Our corrupt
institutions have a vested interest in keeping us confused.

Love and Light,
Raum

I do not believe that faith is inherently much  different than belief. I have faith that the Sun will rise tomorrow. I have fiath that Gravity will keep me attached to the Earth. I have faith the atmosphere will continue to provide me with air to breathe. I ALSO believe these things to be true. Blind faith, however, is another story, and generally relies on the force of circular logic to support it.

I would argue Lance that those aren't "faiths" but rather "beliefs"
based in fact.

A faith would be "I have faith the Seahwaks will win the Superbowl."
or "I have faith this lottery ticket is the one." These are clearly
deifnable differences.

So you would say that the more likely an event is to occur, the more likely it is to be a belief associated with fact? The only difference between the lottery ticket and the sunrise are the odds. I can believe that my ticket is the winning ticket. It can turn out that I am wrong. I can believe the Sun will rise tomorrow. It can turn out that I am wrong. How are these two things clearly different?
