Remember we used to have this ages ago?  In some other group we got chucked out of...

Well, I haven't watched today's yet.  I've just watched Stockport 4, with the woman who was an extreme fan of Jayne McDonald.  Can't remember what she was selling.  Was it the two silver items?

But heavens, that De Morgan green tile with the duck looking at the moth made some money.  I wish I could find one of those.  And the man outside on the phone!  What was that about?  I thought he was hiding at first, didn't want to be on telly (maybe rung in sick at work!) but it looked like he was on the phone to the person buying, so maybe he works for Adam Partridge's auction house.  Maybe his phone wasn't working well inside...

Oh, how lovely to see Bluebelle and Diesel with Paul.   Haven't seen that picture in a while, isn't it smashing.

So anyway, what does everybody think about the lovely venues they're doing this series?  And the musical interludes is a novel thing as well.

I just watched the Weston Park one yesterday, and liked the idea of "...and now to David Barby in the Library with the Jewellery".... shades of Cluedo.   However, I'm not struck on the way they copy Antiques Roadshow with a random clutch of people(sometimes relatives, but sometimes what appear to be staff members or the day's young volunteers looking bored standing nearby.  Although in the David Barby one yesterday they seemed to be hanging about round the door for some reason, did the woman with the jewellery not want them breathing down her neck?   I much prefer the natural crowd scenes, it's just like being at work with people standing about behind you annoying you the way it's done now...

What does anybody else think?
By the way I had to go on the Flog It website to get the name of the programme I watched yesterday.   Old age creeping up...

Christine and I went to the Valuation Day in Saltaire last year and the floor manager came and asked us if we would stand around David Barby whilst he was filming a pocket watch stand, it takes about 30 minutes to film the sequences, as close up shots of the hands are done after they are satisfied that they have got the filming of the valuation in the can. Christine declined because of her hip and my first instinct was to say no, but he was very persistent and I tried to manouvre myself behind other people and out of the way of the camera.. The dance floor where we filmed was sprung and bounced every time someone walked a cross it, which made me feel a bit dizzy, I couldn't hear what David was saying and my mind started to wander, all of a sudden I realised there was a camera pointing in my direction and the end result was me standing there looking very gawmless!...I did make David laugh by saying we were his rent-a-crowd and now I am happy that I had a chance to see him in action, although I am dreading the repeats coming on TV!

I liked the insert today with Paul wandering around the new pier - especially the bit when he's on that tall ride.  What do they call that ride?  And why was he on his own?

I liked Paul's tartan jacket on the Glasgow show which I've just watched.  Nice subdued tartan, at least it didn't make him look like Andy Stewart.   I see Paul resisted wearing a kilt.

Yes I likes Paul's checked jacket too.
Also the insert on the Dali painting was wonderful.I saw this when I was a child in the 1970s and it blew me away even then.If any of you have the opportunity to see it then please do.There is a very strong feeling that this painting emits which is very difficult to explain. The top of the work illuminates the bottom and would probably look exceptional no matter how it was lit.
I seem to remember that it was damaged either by someone slashing it or something similar back in the 70s or 80s and was restored and protected from further damage.

I liked the jacket too.

I really enjoyed the Flog It from Hereford (I think) where they looked at the building of the cathedral.  I am always in awe of the people who built those colossal buildings with such intricate stonework and so on when you consider that they didn't have the transport or equipment that we have these days.  Yet these days we just throw up the most basic looking buildings.

Oh yes, that would be the insert where they discuss the time when part of the church fell down.   Something about amateur workmen and the bricklaying not being as good in one area?
