I see Paul Martin is on this at 7pm tonight - hope he does better than he did on Celebrity Mastermind!

Well spotted!   I had to look it up to see which it was...  I haven't watched more than two minutes of this show, but will set the DVD to record it.  I've gone right off telly these days, can't be bothered with it apart from the odd programme.  (Busy reading Elizabeth Gaskell at present)

I've said this before when Paul's done extra-curricular appearances, but why the hell can't anybody in the Flog It team bring themselves to announce this somewhere?  Would it be too much for them to say something on the Facebook page (goes to look at the Flog It Facebook page in case they have....)   Last time I looked there they didn't even seem aware that the show was being broadcast on UK TV History (part of the BBC) but just told somebody who had a question about the BBC2 repeats.   Surprised though that he's allowed to be on "the other side".

Anyway, this from the Radio Times:

ITV.  Series 3 - 5. The Chase: Celebrity Special

5/14. Coronation Street's Antony Cotton (Sean Tully), co-host of The One Show Alex Jones, writer and broadcaster Gyles Brandreth and Flog It! presenter Paul Martin compete to win thousands of pounds for charity by pitting their general knowledge against one of the show's resident trivia experts. However, they must work as a team to build their prize pot and stay one step ahead of the Chaser. Presented by Bradley Walsh.

So yes, let's see how he does!  Thanks for the information, Kipperlover.

Saw this whilst watching Strictly and was too late to record ITV1 but remembered ITV+1 and will watch it later. There's +2 and +3 as well if you catch up late too......... and want to watch Strictly anyway. I want to watch Atlantis too because I love it.

I saw some of The Chase on ITV + 1 after Strictly Come Dancing, I haven't watched it before and I hadn't a clue what was going on and who won what.....still don't come to that!

I watched it later in the day.  Yes, it is a bit confusing.  Paul seems to have a fan in Gyles Brandreth.

Fancy Paul not knowing the postcode for Father Christmas is SANTA1.  Tee hee.  And now all he needs to do is learn to stop pulling faces so much!

Whatsisname off Coronation Street is very sharp, isn't he?   Knows a lot more stuff that I give him credit for, but then he plays a bit of a thicko dummy in Coro.

I found the rules on itv.com.  Not sure if I'm any the wiser.

Cash Builder

Contestants have 1 minute to build up as much cash as they can by answering quick-fire questions. Each question is worth £1000.

The Chaser's Offers

The amount the contestant wins goes onto the board, three steps ahead of the Chaser. Contestants then have the chance to change their starting position - if they want a bigger head start on the Chaser, they can start one step closer to home, but the Chaser will offer them a lesser amount of money. This could even mean a minus amount! Or, if they are feeling brave, they can start a step closer to the Chaser for which they will be offered a higher amount!

The Chase

Decision made, every correct answer to multiple choice questions moves the contestant and their money one step closer to home however, get a question wrong and they stay where they are. The Chaser answers the same questions and tries to close the gap between them. Make it home safely and they go through to the Final Chase along with the money they have built up, but get caught and they go out with nothing.

The Final Chase

Surviving contestants work as a team to answer as many questions as they can in 2 minutes. For every contestant through to The Final Chase, they get an extra step head start on the Chaser. They then get one step for every correct answer and must then watch nervously as the Chaser is given two minutes to try and catch them. If the Chaser gets a question wrong and the team can get it right, they push the Chaser back one step. If the Chaser fails to catch the team, they win and split the cash pot equally between them; if they are caught they go home with nothing.

I caught The Chase by sheer accident on Saturday.Bit of zapping at the right time I think.Loved seeing Paul out of his comfort zone and pulling the funny faces. All 4 contestants did really well.I just wondered why it wasnt advertised better though?

I watch the normal episodes of "The Chase" fairly regularly when I am having my tea and enjoy it - Bradley Walsh and all the chasers are excellent. I don't normally watch the Celebrity version  nowadays as the questions are so much easier than normal and I often get the feeling it is rigged. I always look to see who's on just in case - that's how I noticed it was Paul. Anything with Gyles Brandreth I avoid like the plague but I did make an exception this time.

Haven't watched it yet but looking forward to it. I caught a bit of it and he seemed to be doing better this time.
