I'm guessing Ilana works for Charles Widmore, not the family of the
guy Sayid killed on the golf course (which is a close connection,
since all the people Sayid killed have connections to Widmore), and
has been hired by Widmore to stop Linus/Locke and allow Widmore
passage back to the island (which he's been trying to do for 20
years). If Eloise knew about everyone returning, she could have told
Widmore, and then he hired Ilana to essentially attach herself to
Sayid, with good reason, so that whenever he went to the Island, she
would go as well, and while there do something in Widmore's favor.
"What lies in the shadow of the statue"??? Was she asking that to see
if Lapidus had been to the island before, or if he was in the know
about the island's mythology? And what's in that box???
