Description: Eni SpA (Eni) is engaged in the oil and gas, power
generation, petrochemicals, oilfield services and engineering
industries. Eni has operations in 77 countries as of December 31,
2009. It operates in five segments: Exploration & Production, Gas &
Power, Refining & Marketing, Petrochemicals and Other segments. Eni’s
Exploration & Production segment engages in oil and natural gas
exploration and field development and production, as well as liquid
natural gas (LNG) operations in 40 countries. Eni’s Gas & Power
segment engages in supply, transport, distribution, storage, re-
gasification and marketing of natural gas, electricity and LNG. Eni’s
Refining & Marketing segment engages in refining and marketing of
petroleum products mainly in Italy and in the rest of Europe. Eni’s
petrochemical activities include production of olefins and aromatics,
basic intermediate products, polyethylene, polystyrenes, and
elastomers. In August 2010, it sold a subsidiary, Padana Energia.
