Our Guest Speakers on Wednesday October 28 will be Linda Dowell (Executive Director) and Trish Avery (Assistant Executive Director) of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Branch of SAG, the Screen Actors Guild. You do not want to miss this opportunity to hear about how SAG works in Texas and nationwide, and get informed about legalities and other issues related to the Guild and how it affects the movie, acting and production aspects of this business.

Linda Dowell has been a fierce advocate for all performers in Texas. As Screen Actors Guild’s Regional Branch Division Executive Director, her influence also shines nationwide as she oversees twenty SAG branch operations throughout the country. Linda has been advocating for performers all of her professional life. In her late teens, she knew she wanted to work behind the scenes to help artists build their careers and went to work for one of the country’s most successful recording acts, The Judds. After seven years in their employ and a brief stint at an ad agency, Linda moved west and began her career working for unions and representing the interests of on-camera and voice performers. Between her seven years with AFTRA in Phoenix and six with Screen Actors Guild in Texas, Linda has worked tirelessly to forge a productive relationship between actors, their employers, and the industry. Among her highlights in Texas are helping to develop the SAG/AFTRA Conservatory - an educational program, serving as a charter Board Member for TXMPA and as the Communications Committee Chair, and her continuous outreach to independent film producers to mentor them on utilizing professional talent in their SAG productions.

Trish Avery believes in the independent spirit of the Texas creative community and has spent much of her career supporting the efforts of those professionals. As a performer, Trish began her career on stage and soon became a popular commercial and industrial film actor for Fortune 500 clients. She has served as President of SAG and AFTRA in Dallas/Ft. Worth and represented Texas actors in both national board rooms. As Manager of Broadcast and Strategic Alliances for eWomenNetwork, Trish produced and hosted a weekly radio show on ABC radio station WBAP. She now serves as the Assistant Executive Director of Screen Actors Guild for the Dallas/Ft. Worth and Houston Branches, covering all professional performers living and working in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Trish believes that a strong production market includes a solid professional acting pool who understands the business of show business. Trish is a member of Women In Film Houston and Dallas, Austin Film Society, DPA, SWAMP, and is Membership Coordinator for TXMPA.
