Dear Film, Game,
Music and Entertainment People, Friends, Investors and Fans,
WHAT: The Network Austin Mixer
WHEN: Wed May 11, 2011 - 6 PM
WHERE: Baby Acapulcos - 5610 North IH-35, Austin TX 78751
WHO: Everyone involved in film, theatre, game, TV, and
entertainment media... and YOU!
GUEST SPEAKER: Reid Reasor - Master of computer animation!
Baby Acapulcos - 5610 North IH-35, Austin, 78751 is on the
southbound I35 Frontage Road on the west side of I35, south of the
Koenig Lane / I35 / US 290 East intersection. Baby As is an
Austin institution, and we meet in the large back room with HAPPY
HOUR SPECIALS until 7 PM!
We are honored to have Reid Reasor as our Guest Speaker on Wed
May 11, 2011. Reid is a senior animator at IdeaCorp and has
animated since 1992. He became interested in computer animation
when his two-year old son was diagnosed with severe autism, but
showed a tremendous affinity for computers and visual graphics.
Reid earned a Masters Degree in Interactive Computer Graphics from
Arizona State University, and started IdeaCorp to provide a
father-son company. He then combined his education with
knowledge he gained while developing virtual environments and
simulators at the Air Force Research Laboratory to invent a
process using commercial off the shelf software to provide
green and blue screen animations to assist start up film
makers.
Actors, filmmakers, wardrobe & lighting folks, directors,
writers, and others in the media businesses --- Join us on Wed May 11 at 6 PM @ Baby A's and make use of this
rare opportunity to learn from Reid Reasor, a master in his
field. Reid's presentation will begin at 6:45, and will
include projecting onscreen what his work involves, and explaining
the technology available and how it affects all those involved in
filmmaking.
It is Reids belief that current animation power is available to
local filmmakers at affordable prices, however, there is a larger
need for efficiency in planning in the animation sequences due to
the longer PC based rendering times. His upcoming presentation is
geared for directors, producers, actors, and screen writers as an
introduction to the animation process and some of the planning
issues involved. There will be several examples of animations and
open discussion during the presentation. Come prepared to ask, add
and learn from each other.
Specific topics that Reid will cover include:
Practical film elements or CGI - when should we use what?
The 3D and 2D environments - when can they meet?
The animation process - is there more than one? Tailoring the
process
Planning green screen events - what to take from the set to
the CC, or vice versa
Wardrobe and set planning - material colors, light
