My apologies to you, dear Lex Pro friends, and to Eli and Saraya, who put together this issue last weekend. I've been having computard problems since my return from Germany and just couldn't seem to get it out. Figured it might still be valuable belatedly. Hope so.

** EARTH DAYS IN THE BLUEGRASS 2009**
Sponsored by UK Residence Life Sustainability and UK Greenthumb, EDBG is a month-long celebration of “sustainability, responsible global citizenship, and the power of local action.” Every new day brings events working towards the promotion of our community. Here are some of the highlights for this week:
> Tues/Apr 21 Eat Something Local Day - We all know about the health and community benefits that come from eating locally, and we're blessed to live in a region so rich in good agriculture. Make the pledge to eat locally on Tuesday and you won't be sorry. Possible itinerary - breakfast at the Co-op, lunch at Stella's, dinner and a KY Ale Bourbon Barrel at Al's? > Wed/Apr 22 EARTH DAY! - Celebrate all day long with various events on the UK Campus. There's an Earth Day Fair at the Student Center Patio/Free Speech area from 10-3, featuring tye-dying, book-making, and various other fun activities. Head over to the Memorial Hall Amphitheater at 6 for a concert featuring Downtown County Band, the High Water Marks, and Big Fresh. More on this below in The Picks.
> Thurs/Apr 23 King Corn Film Screening - Documentary focusing on the troubling truth about where much of our food comes from and how its produced. 7pm at Worsham Theater.
> Fri/Apr 24 Share the Road! Group Bicycle Ride/Still We Ride Film Screening - Hop on your bike and come out for a fun ride designed to better acclamate riders with the rules of the road and the general idea of using your wheels for transportation. Help demonstrate that bikes aren't blocking traffic - they ARE traffic. The ride starts at 5:30 from Woodland Park, and should end up at the Student Center for a 7:00 screening of Still We Ride at Worsham Theater. This documentary captures the spirit of the famous Critical Mass ride in New York City on the eve of the 2004 Republican National Convention, as well as giving a history of the ride's origins in San Francisco over 10 years ago.
> Sat/Apr 25 Arbor Day at The Arboretum - Celebrate your favorite trees by hanging out with them at The Arboretum from 10-2. There will be all sorts of fun activities for people of all ages, and it's all free! Get out and have some fun in the forest!

** Wed/Apr 22 - Holler Poets Series #12 at Al's Bar
Featuring poetry from Donna Ison and Jude Lally, and music by Warren Byrom (of the Swells and Big Maracas). 8pm, FREE.
** Sat/April 25 – Lexington Farmers Market in its NEW LOCATION
What better way to spend a Saturday morning than finding the best tasting veggies and supporting local farmers at the same time! The weather forecast is calling for sunny and 80 degrees, so there really isn't much of an excuse. The Farmers Market just made the move down to Cheapside Park and it really couldn't be lovelier. - Holler Poets Series #11, feat. Donna Ison and Jude Lally at Al's Bar (Two very different and equally fascinating readers), followed by music by fantastic local singer/guitarist Warren Byrom of the Swells. All ages, FREE.
- Godd w/ Battlecry, Pslychosis
at the Skylight Lounge (in Main Street Live, across the volleyball
court and up the stairs from the Dame). Many of you might also know Godd
as Nick Kidd's band. Fun times, heavy, theatrical circus rock (?)....I

- The Swells w/ Slow Claw and !!Girlie Girl!! Burlesque Show at the Green Lantern. Can't seem to find much info about the burlesque show, but it's about damn time Lexington got another burlesque show, and I couldn't possibly think of a better venue.
- Wale w/ UCB, Colin Munroe, Loose Change w/ Nate FX, and The US Band at Old Tarr Distillery (903 Manchester St.). I'm going to be honest, I know nothing about these hip hop bands, except that I did read that Washington D.C.-based Wale released a Seinfeld themed mixtape last year (The MixTape About Nothing). Intrigued. Sponsored by WRFL and Oneness287.com, a new-ish "streetwear boutique" on North Limestone (near the corner of Maxwell...check out their site...) All ages/$5.
- Tiny Fights (my new favorite Lex band - heavy psychelectonica dance jams), F.D.U. ("psych-garage-kid-rock" - as Jamie says Reid would say), Street Gnar
(heard a bit on last week's WRFL Live - really nice space guitar loops
w/eerie vocals from Case of Jovantaes) @ Derby City Espresso in

- Fourth Friday - closing night of PaintPresent, featuring live bluegrass form the Blind Corn Liquor Pickers, food, schmooze, art, the works @ The Loudoun House.
- Latin Heat & Special guest @ Al's Sidecar (formerly known as Cheater's). Latin heat = new Lex band featuring Matt Gibson, Andy Stith, and Drew.
- Share the road! Group Bike Ride - 5:30 p.m. at Woodland Park in conjunction w/ Earth Days in the Bluegrass. Ride ends at Worsham Theatre on UK's campus for a screening of Still we Ride, a documentary that captures an '04 Critica Mass bike ride in New York that ending in arrests and choas three days before the Republican National Convention.
