Dear friends,
Our project is at a really exciting turning point. The Justice for Fallujah Project is now a project of ISLAH!
Our activism over the last four years has focused mostly on speaking out and raising awareness. We’ve organized speaking events, film screenings, lectures, we’ve published many articles, and we even made a documentary film. I also think that we are the main reason that the public health crisis in Fallujah has gotten any media attention in the US. So we have done some great work.
However, it is time to now step things up and move beyond raising awareness. In addition to all the work we’ve been doing all along, we will now be working to bring reparations to Fallujah through ISLAH.
ISLAH is an organization designed for those who feel that they were/are complicit in war, occupation, and displacement and who want to take responsibility for harm committed in their name. ISLAH offers people of conscience an opportunity to put into action the words we speak and the goodwill we feel when we think about our position in the global order and the violence wrought to sustain that position. Our goal is to mobilize reparations in the form of aid to the communities that our societies have harmed, and we ask all people of conscience to participate in giving reparations to start a healing processes.
We’re really excited about this new project. We feel that ISLAH offers a unique philosophy and a new approach to activism, and we’re confident that we will be successful.
Sincerely,
