I hate to bug you but I have one quick question? What are the simple stupid
directions for posting images on the board? I have a digital camera and have
been taking pictures of work in progress but have not figured out how to
post them on the board. Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to
give.

I have pictures of the gudgeon and will post on the site. It was fastened to
the bottom of the keel with two bronze rods with their ends mushroomed over
and a bronze machine screw. I chiseled one end off each rod and drove the
pins out easily. The screw backed out remarkably easily too. I'm going to go
back with bronze bolts where the rods were but the screw seems fit enough to
be used again. The bronze looks good, probably because the boat was
primarily in freshwater most of its life? You can see that it is two halves
that go together capturing the bottom rudder post. The weight of the rudder
rest on what looks like a nub of solid resin? I'll have to build it up a
little because the end of the rudder shaft rod has worn into it just
slightly over the years which has allowed the rudder to start wearing on the
top of the gudgeon.
I think it is 2 piece like on the Alberg 30 but have never attacked that area
which is under multiple coats of old bottom paint :

If I knew where to get an exact replica of the original, I would have replaced
mine as it seems so vital, and must have weakened with age/electrolysis over the
many years...
If there is a brand new one available I'd definitely go back with it instead
of the one that came off. It does look a little tired but I'm sure it has
quite a few years of life left in it.
