I assume this is Atomic-4 I see on the background. Wow, they are dirty.
I call my friend-mechanic: worn out gas engines are getting a blow-by too and it accumulates on plugs (not my quote)
Apparently they were built for regular leaded gas... not unleaded. High octane gas may even damage the engine.
Infrequent use, not fresh fuel, short running time after start, high engine hours, internal rust if not FWC, and none of them are, unless converted.
You may have some or all of them. I am not a licensed mechanic and had my last repair time rendezvous with Atomic about 7 ears ago and it was wiring, distributor cap thingies and water pump...
Atomics are good engines, but even the youngest one is more than 30 years old. Imagine infrequently used 35 year old car. How many problems that engine would have?
I would save a few bucks and buy a new diesel if I am keeping the boat. I-29 worth it.
In favor of Atomic: I like how quiet, economical, simple yet strong they are.
