TYRA Needs Rescue
10 Years Old, 21lbsMeet Tyra - a shy 10 year old shih tzu mix that arrived at our shelter through no fault of her own. Tyra arrived after 7 years in her previous home and has been understandably nervous here in the shelter. She is a low-key dog that shows no interest in toys (per previous owners) and is not overly interested in other dogs. (She bared her teeth at bigger dogs if she came in contact with one, but seems ok with smaller dogs, closer to her size.) She lived with 2 cats in her first home and didn't show them much interest either.
At her intake exam the vet diagnosed Tyra with lenticular sclerosis with KCS (keratoconjunctivitis Sicca or dry eye). She was also found to have significant dermal issues and also two masses - one on her right thigh and a mammary mass. We shaved most of her mats. See attached medical notes.
Tyra is looking for a dedicated rescue that can give her the opportunity to decompress outside of the shelter environment and can give her the necessary medical care she needs to live her best life.
