Subject: Sweet long term pup now limping- seeking urgent rescue! (Baldwin, MD)
Meet Wilma! Wilma loves to meet new people and greets everyone with happy wiggles and wags! She is an enthusiastically curious girl who loves to check out every detail of her surroundings. When she enters a new space, she becomes laser-focused on investigating and learning her way around. She will come to her handlers when called and offer them her attention for a brief check-in but is quick to get back to her goal of sniffing everything.
Wilma loves going outside for walks. She can sometimes do a little pulling, but that’s just because she’s so excited to exercise and explore! She does well when passing other dogs and is easily directed to keep moving. Once Wilma gets some energy out, she does some of the cutest sploots across the ground, showing that she’s ready for snuggle time or to focus on learning new commands. She is treat motivated and has her most successful training sessions after she’s had a chance to let some energy out.
Wilma does not have a known history with cats, dogs, or children. She does show some social interest when passing other dogs here at BCAS and has engaged in some polite sniffs.
Unfortunately, Wilma has been exhibiting some weight bearing lameness of her left hind leg. We have initiated treatment and medication for her but she may need further diagnostics if it does not resolve. Due to her medical needs we are hoping to place her with a rescue organization as soon as possible as the shelter is no place for her to recover especially if she ends up needing a more extensive treatment. Our shelter veterinarians are monitoring her closely.
