Subject: Give Hope a Chance! - Baltimore, MD
- Rescue Needed -

Hope - unaltered female, 1y8m, 66.2lbs

Hope is a friendly, cooperative girl who is hoping her next chapter is just around the corner. True to her name, she’s holding onto hope that someone will see her potential and give her the chance she deserves.

This pretty pup is food motivated and already knows “sit,” making her a great candidate for continued positive-reinforcement training. She enjoys working for treats and engaging with her handlers.

Our training team recommends Hope for an only-dog home. In the shelter environment she has demonstrated reactivity toward other dogs, including barrier and leash reactivity, and may escalate when corrected by other dogs.

Hope is an active and curious dog who enjoys exploring the world around her. On walks she can pull strongly toward moving creatures such as wildlife or other dogs, so continued leash work will help set her up for success. She has also shown some stimulus control challenges, meaning she will benefit from patient guidance and clear boundaries.

If future dog interactions are attempted, the training team recommends muzzle acclimation and working with a behavior professional to ensure safe, structured introductions. Slow and thoughtful acclimation would also be recommended around small, fearful, or prey-like animals in a home environment.

Despite these challenges, Hope remains a friendly dog with a lot of potential.

Hope appears healthy, and a full medical summary can be provided upon request.

Please let us know if your organization can help!

Thank you,

The BARCS Rescue Team
