Scruffy came into the shelter on 2/24 and is a gentle, affectionate boy with a lot of love to give. Despite some chronic health issues, this sweet senior enjoys cozying up with his people.
Scruffy has chronic skin, ear, and joint issues, which may be related to allergies or autoimmune disease, and will require continued veterinary care. He recently got diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection, and his skin has multiple areas of irritation, some of which were shaved and treated to allow healing. Scruffy also has spinal spondylosis, mild hip changes, and an old tail break, which can cause tenderness, particularly during hip extension and abduction.
Scruffy tolerates careful handling, though sedation for eye exams must be limited due to safety concerns, he can growl or snap when stressed. A full medical summary can be provided upon request.
Despite his medical needs, Scruffy’s personality shines. He is incredibly affectionate, loves nuzzling in for pets and scratches, and thrives when he can be close to his person. In foster care, he has settled beautifully, enjoying couch cuddles, snuggles, and quiet companionship. He is housetrained, well-behaved, and loyal, and even enjoys watching TV with the cutest head tilts.
