Rescues,

Pickens County Animal Shelter in Pickens, SC is seeking rescue placement for the dogs listed below. Dogs are listed in order of most urgent need.

Benji, Eazy-E, Hobbes, and Hitch need placement the fastest.

All dogs are dog friendly and heartworm negative unless otherwise noted.

Please note: No pickups are available on Wednesdays or Sundays. Please contact hstri...@pickenscountysc.gov if you can help. 

We now have a YouTube channel where rescues can view additional information on many of our animals before committing.

The channel includes: Individual dog videos, Dog playgroup videos and Cat testing videos

Videos are organized into playlists to make it easy to find specific dogs and view their interactions with other animals.

Benji – 3 yrs, male, 76 lbs – The Oversized Lap Dog
Dog & cat friendly. Good on leash.
Benji was treated for heartworms on 5/15/2026.

 

Eazy-E – 8 yrs, male, 61 lbs – O.G. of the Backyard
Dog friendly, no cats. High heartworm positive. Slow-kill treatment is recommended.

Hobbes – 4 months, male, 18 lbs – Freckle-Faced Explorer
Dog & cat friendly puppy. Hobbes was born with a birth defect causing two toes on his back foot to be shorter than the others, but it does not appear to affect him.

Hitch – 4 months, male, 19 lbs – Heart-Thief (In-Training)
Dog & cat friendly puppy.

Prudence – 1 yr, female, 44 lbs – Shy Girl in Training
Extremely shy but making progress and finally beginning to get a little comfortable with people. She is terrified of leashes and the shelter environment but has shown zero aggression and does great with other dogs.

Finn – 1 yr, male – Shy Guy in Training
Extremely shy but slowly learning people are okay. Terrified of leashes and new environments but does very well with other dogs and has shown no aggression.

Kobe – 3 yrs, male, 71 lbs – Gourmet Retriever Extraordinaire
Dog & cat friendly. Fair on leash.

Skywalker – 5 yrs, male, 53 lbs – Galactic Good Boy
Dog & cat friendly. Good on leash.

Hambone – 1 yr, male, 42 lbs – Backyard BBQ Goofball
Dog friendly.

Chance – 3 yrs, male, 65 lbs – Professional Heart-Throb
Dog friendly.

Tippy – 6 months, female, 25 lbs – Bashful Beauty
Dog friendly.

Honey Rae – 2 yrs, female, 54 lbs – Certified Heart Melter
Honey Rae appears to have an issue involving her left hip/leg that causes her to walk a little oddly. We are unable to provide diagnostic imaging such as X-rays and are limited to basic care, including anti-inflammatory medication.

Eggo – 9-11 yrs, male, 73 lbs – Undisputed Waffle King
Dog friendly. Good on leash. High heartworm positive. Slow-kill treatment is recommended.
