Nora: altered female, 3yo, 30.6lbs
Nora came to BARCS through Animal Control on 7/31 and has already shown us what a wonderful, resilient dog she is. This stoic girl has been cooperative and easy to handle since arriving, making friends with staff and volunteers who have spent time with her.
Nora is easy to leash and walk and enjoys spending time outside. She loves running and playing in the yard, where she can relax and show off her playful side. While she may come across as a little reserved at first, Nora has shown that she is capable of building trust and connecting with the people around her.
During her dog test, Nora was selected as a helper dog since she was gentle, and socially appropriate. At the gate, she displayed some uncertainty with hackles raised, a curled flagging tail, ears back, and a closed mouth. She entered the space slowly, offering appropriate cutoff signals and taking time to assess the situation. As the interaction continued, Nora gradually softened and moved into calm, gentle coexistence. She was respectful of the other dog’s space, avoided overly rowdy play, and moved away when interactions became too much.
Nora appears healthy and a full medical summary can be provided upon request.
Nora is a thoughtful girl who communicates clearly and appears to appreciate a calm, respectful approach. She would benefit from a patient rescue or adopter willing to continue building her confidence and allowing her personality to shine.
Please consider helping Nora find the next step in her journey. She is ready for a chance to be seen beyond the shelter and find the person or rescue who will give her the time and support she deserves.
